CFJ’s MUGEN-style sprite mishmash is ugly but the game is supposed to be pretty good. If you yt search for matches of it you’ll see it even saw some big-name competitive play in Japan for a while

the society/gaming culture,
sony’s top wigs distancing themselves from 2D and gravitating towards 3D
the publishing companies’ failures at dealing with the console wars
ardcade hardware incompatibilities
etc…etc…
it’s all BS excuses.
look, it’s simple mathematics.

great franchise/series + crappy game engine/character design/unpolished AI = low sales
which goes to show that most people “can’t handle the truth”

3S is a very complicated masterpiece and takes dedication to even begin to understand it, so scrubs likes Ultima and Axl can talk shit all day but all it proves is more of their ignorance.
3S “failed” because it’s too great for most players. Only the truly hardcore fanbase loves the game becasue we can understand it. yay for us!
I actually pity haters like Axl, Ultima and others. They make themselves look stupid all day long and still don’t get the play and understand one of the best fighting gamers ever made because of their scrub status.
I don’t like 3S for the fact that I main Sean and he’s by far the worst character in the game, and the top-tier v low-tier matches are hilarious!
No…honestly. I like 3S a lot and I do wish that it had caught on. I think most people were thrown off by the fact that they only recognized a few of the characters. Not only that, but 3S isn’t as visually bright as other SF games, especially SF2. Call me crazy, but that has an effect on people that they don’t realize.
3S is also the most thematically dark game too, so it was just a game that people automatically had to get used to. SF games are popularity if they continue to be familiar. Alpha included a lot of new characters, but they still had most of the og’s, and that game was also very visually bright.
Only the hardcore SF fans really dedicated themselves to it. Like myself. Not saying I was any good, but I definitely “understand” that game.

1)to mimic the subtle nuances of human speech. which, therefore, causes the reader to be much more engaged by my post, to my post.
and
2)for dramatic purposes. it leads to the anticipation and the suspense of the following word or statement.

I think this quote can pretty much sum up the difference between the pre-SF4 CvS2 and 3S scenes rather nicely.
CvS2 fans play a game they love while still admitting the game has numerous flaws, some of which are rather spectacular; 3S fans play a game they love while pretending the flaws are in fact not flaws, but a secret code emended by Jesus that requires a PhD in game design to even begin to fathom.
Both CvS2 and 3S were on life support well before SF4 came out. One scene let their game die a quiet, dignified death; the other sees the word “parry” in a thread and is compelled to assault the poor, sad, dead horse one more time.
I’m sorry that your game is dead, but the implication that the rest of us are all idiots for not liking it never inspired sympathy to begin with. It’s really old hat now.
The reason why I can see somebody defending the sf3 series and specifically 3s is because the games were actual very damn good. Now you have seen 3s fans admit that Genei Jin is broken and that Chun Li is overpowered. Then you see the fans and player that transcend the flaws in the game and make Low tier Characters seem ridiculously strong and powerful.
If you don’t like the game because the characters unfamiliar then you should read the Title of the first game of the series it says SF3 New Generation for a reason. It was a new game and series and all you haters that were active during the past 10 years shitted on the game then you all bitched in complained about SF4. Capcom gave up after what you all did thats being brutally honest they put everything on the line they made the game as good as they could make it . Then it got shitted on for being new title.
If you wanna discuss why this game failed in America bring up the fact people were extremely closeminded, Admit to the fact that you all went and played sf2 , SFA and Tekken 3. Don’t be ashamed to say you didnt’ like this game because Balrog was missing . Don’t make excuses on the gameplay because last time I checked a lot of High Level matches in sf2 boiled down to fire ball spamming and jumping over them.
