I have a 09 login myself so I usually try not to give people shit for it, but sometimes a post so blatantly wrong comes around I’m forced to break out of my shitposting character
You know, all I try to do is make a point about people getting pissy about a title, and we need a flame war about the exact details of what genre definement entails.
I don’t give a fuck. I’m not approaching this from anywhere near as narrow of a context.
It’s almost a classic line, wait…it is.
The lack of content in this post says “yes you’re absolutely right, i ran out of excuses and can’t hide from the fact that dissing someone with incorrect info eventually backfired on me, even after using gamefaqs as my guide.”

since when is it considered cool for new players to hate on marvel and 3s?
and the reason WHY they hate on it is obvious, someone beat them badly at it and put a bad taste in their mouth, so they got discouraged and said to themselves “ill never be good at that game” so if they can discredit that game, it would matter less.
scrubs and new players. keep your mouths shut, these discussions are for the big boys, you just read and learn, stop trying to contribute until you know your shit.
and when you make a thread like this, your intentions are obvous…
That’s pedantic as fuck. Whenever a human being says “10 years” ago, there is a very good chance that he means “the year that was 10 less than this one”. Given its a nice round number like 10 even that’s probably more specific than it often means. Only on the internet would someone even consider arguing about something so god damn stupid.
You know what else is pedantic? To take what’s a more-than-obvious attempt at shitposting seriously, if not personally, and become adamant about “disproving” a snip because to the internet it may look like you “don’t know your stuff”
Unless you mean to tell me you honestly think I was really trying to give him shit for him not knowing it was 9 years and not 10
He’s just trying to distract from the previous fuck up he made about Darkstalkers.

I like everything EXCEPT SF4. BAM! Deal with that.
SaDo: I saw you at SB3 in 08 playin 3s, awesome Urien stuff. Just wanted to compliment since I don’t stalk players or follow what everyone else is doin
I really don’t feel like reading all those pages and/or arguments.
But here’s what I think, it wasn’t marketed enough, it wasn’t really well known, I remember hearing about SF3 not too long ago and thinking, “Ok, there’s a SF3? Huh?”
Also, I know this has been mentioned, but with only what, 3-4 original SF characters like Ken, Ryu, Chun Li, it hurt sales, because to the non-casual gamer, it’s not SF without the other SF characters, like Guile, Cammy, etc, etc.
They would just look at characters like Ibuki, Makoto, etc, and say,“Well, who the hell are these people? Gimmie my Cammy, gimmie my Guile, etc…”
It’s a fun game, just people need to get over the initial “It’s not like SFII, and it never will be like SFII”
That whole “10 years or not” argument is irrelevant anyways.
Fact of the matter is SF3 didn’t get a timely console release. And, when it was finally released on console TWO YEARS AFTER ITS DEBUT, it was on a doomed system…and already being outdated by Third Strike which came out the same year in arcades. Then ANOTHER year later, 3rd Strike finally came out…on the same dying console.
SF3 basically had no console release as far as I’m concerned.
Under those conditions there is no way SF3 could have possibly sold millions. And, it’s not like Capcom didn’t know that, too.
That’s the question we should be asking. What did CAPCOM expect? THAT question is what determines “success” or “failure”. Do people really think Capcom expected a 2 year old 2D fighting game to sell millions of copies…on the DREAMCAST? I doubt it.
Look the sooner you all realize that 3S is inferior to ST, the sooner we can all move past this.
And I agree with Nikko up there, i think it was a combination of a) not being marketed, b) not appealing to the casual gamer, c) the casual gamers who played SF2 had no interest in playing SF3 because they didn’t see the character they used to use, and d) there was no Cammy.
Hats off to you if you were trolling the entire time, it went completely above my head
Not the whole time, just being facetious on my last post.
3s characters are very serious.
very. serious.
Yeah, this argument is based of nothing but hearsay. Most casuals I know don’t even know what SFIII was. Hell, I didn’t even know when NG came out in the arcades until my cousin told me. Casual players don’t give a shit that SFII cast is back, nevermind that they never really left.
3s is best. It just didn’t catch on with US players until really the third rendition.
IMO the mechanics of SF4 was the failure. But since it attracted so many new players and revived the scene, I can’t really say much more.
rock on, lee_2 (very. serious.)
