So no lag his possible

so mortal kombat has no lag…doa looks likes its gonna have no lag…but cvs2 and GGX have lag…damn i just hope SF AE is ok

It is 10 times easier to program a 3d fighter for online play than a 2d one. All the CPU needs for a 3d fighter is the model and the vectors. The animations all come from the same model.

2d fighters is a whole other story. Each frame of each move has to be rendered per move per charicter. Alot more memory and CPU time is needed for this requiring more bandwidth.

The rendering of the characters and animations in 2d or 3d, is not the cause of lag or delay. Lag is caused by the time it takes for data to be exchanged back and fourth between the two console systems. The animation data is generally not sent over the network, only the users actions are sent.

True but with the 2d fighters there is more to process across the network. That is the point I was making.

Why would there be more to process across the network for 2d fighters? For example if you just look at position data alone, with 2d games you only need x,y coordinates to store position. With 3d games you need x,y and z coordinates.

Alright, so the chances of CFJ, KOF and SFAE performing as well as MKD online are what?

I dont really think its that MKD has no lag, its just that the combo system is different. As long as you enter the right button combination the combo comes out. In other words, the timing isnt really too much of an issue as it is in GGX2 and CVS2. Its definitely a great game online with all the variety of games you can play.
