So let's talk about why capcom's empire of fighters crumbled

You’re missing the point. These games are far from impossible to find, either in console or emulated form. There are so many Capcom fighters that have been pushed to the wayside that have so much potential in the fighting game scene.

too slow for my ninja edit stealth:

Yes, I noticed all too late

“EDIT: 2-D fighters are not dead…just Capcoms.”

Nope, 2d fighters are dead. SNK/Gaymore’s fighters don’t count because they’re all shit

Let’s not.

We already did this, if the wiki was up since HF, you would be hard pressed to find an omission, especially as the games get older. The fact is that a lot of the newer SRK people weren’t around when people actually were playing games like jojo and Rival Schools, and we were less organized, so a lot of the info was lost.

It’s not like it never existed, so it’s odd to assume that the community is the reason for a game not being played to death, when we already do about 1000x more than other communities just to keep the few games alive that are alive.

Wow, could you be any more retarded?

Seriously, get the fuck out of here.

well name 1 snk fighter better then 12 year old ST

oh wait there aren’t any, dang

chaos perhaps!..

you’d think for a company that made a living out of ripping of capcom they’d come up with something fun

Even if you don’t like SNKP, you’re completely ignoring Arc Systems and Dimps. Now take your retarded fanboyism elsewhere, I’ve almost got an intelligent topic here.

You know at first I thought your user name was ironic, but I guess it actually says more about you than I initially thought. I find it funny you only mentioned SvC…What about 98 or 02, or even XI for that matter. There are plenty of decent KoF games, you’re probably just too much of a loser to recognise it.

Why do you bother posting? Your ignorance just shows more and more everytime you post something as completely idiotic as this.

And about the SNK fighter, there’s nothing that you could say would top ST with a straight face, but not much tops ST to begin with. The closest SNK fighters I’d say come to that feat are both '98 and Garou.

I never thought they had an empire. Street Fighter put fighting games on the map but I dont think capcom ever took advantage of this. Instead of releasing true sequels while the interest in fighting games was high, capcom released just new versions of the same game with a tweaked engine. By the time capcom got to making a sequel and new fighting games the arcade and fighting game scene was dying out.

You ask any joe shmoe on the street to name you a fighting game the first thing they will most likely say is SFII. Ask them to name another fighting game other then SFII made by capcom and you hear mvc2. Ask again and you get a wtf face. Some people dont even know they made a sequel to SFII. I think capcom established a fighting game niche that we at srk inhabit but is relatively unknown to the casual player. Capcom seeing this has decided to just let us die because we are more of a drag than a help. We have grown obsolete but refuse to see it.

Please explain how to effectively turtle in VF4, I would like to know.

Ok, dude, seriosly, SF:III was an attempt to revolutionize SF?

How long did we wait for SFIII? And when it finally came out, what was new? A bunch of light Aplpha elements and a parry? Let’s get real: If capcom thought they were going to bring anybody new to the series with SF3 they’re morons. I’m sick of people blaming the fans for that: SF:3 wasn’t succesful because it was just another street fighter. Completely switching the cast has worked for other fighting game franchises: Tekken 3?

When u turn one word into three words, its not easy to understand.

And now your an idiot, SF III was not just another SF. SF III didnt play anything like any other SF and is almost a completely different game because of the parry. Thats why alot of the OS players dont like SF III.

Im sick of people not knowing wtf they are talking about and just spouting out nonfounded garbage.

Really? That was spoken like a true fighting game fan.

Because honestly, I think the changes made the SfIII were subtle, yet deep. But you’re fucking deluding yourself if you’re actually going to sit there and say that there are HUGE differences.

Me and my brothers used to play SFII RELIGIOUSLY back in the day. They moved on, I stuck around.

Just the other day, they were watching me play 3s. One of them asked to give it a try.

He played for twenty minutes and said “It’s a nice game…but it’s …well, it’s street fighter.”

That’s honeslty exactly what I expected him to say. It’s not that he dislikes Street Fighter, he just got damn sick of it.

Thats what you get for playing with scrubs, read ask around with people who know. The differences in the game are huge. Even between games like ST and A3 there are huge changes and ST, A3 and 3S are nothing alike.

To put it in short terms the older SF II games were more about spacing and knowing traps and how to work them and get out of them. With the Alpha series its alot more about CCs and poke strings with 3S its about how good you are defensively and knowing what you can and cant do with certain characters against certain characters. Loose terms yes but I am much to lazy to go into full detail. There are huge differences in the gameplay though. SF III does not play anything like SF II.

OK, dude, YOU’RE STILL TALKING LIKE A HARDCORE FIGHTING GAME FAN.

Yes, I tottally agree with everything you just said. Except for going as far saying that it plays like a totally different game. Look at the basics.

What you’re saying, is like implying that DOA4 is TOTALLY different from all other DOA games just because it’s heavier on offense.

Every Street fighter game has alot in common and THAT’S WHAT KEEPS US COMING BACK TO THEM. To say otherwise is simply to be indenial.
