Masahiko Nakahira really knew what he was doin with the SF franchise! It’s amazing to know that he included the Satsui no Hadou & Sakura even before SFA2 came out! The way he implemented each character (from SFA specifically) was really good! I mean, no one has ever portrayed Guy as a hardcore justice ninja (except for the games of course). If there’ll ever be a SFA limited anime series it should be based off of Nakahira’s work.
Yeah he created Satsui No Hadou / Evil Ryu. I believe that SFZ2 was out in Japan by the time he used Sakura in the manga though. Anyway, Sakura Ganbaru Vol. II comes out this week so make sure you check that. Ryu Final next! But yeah so far his SFZ/SFA manga is my favorite of all of his works. :bgrin:
That’s correct.
Hmm - That’s funny, at Anime News Network it says that the SFZ manga was released 2/10/96 whereas Z2 (JPN) was released 2/27 of the same year according to wikipedia…
You have to remember that the manga ran monthly in Gamest magazine, there was one chapter a month and Sakura did not show up until the very end more or less. So her game appearance still beats out her manga appearance. Even when the manga started running, Sakura, Rolento, Gen, Dhalsim and Zangief were all known to be in SFZ2 by the gaming community. The SF2V manga (very different from the SF2V anime) that proceeded it also used Sakura and Rolento in the very last installment for that reason, even if Sakura there was a robot lol!
Thanks for the correction man!
2-10-1996 was when the first compiled volume of the manga was released. Sakura’s appearance in the manga, shown first in Gamest Magazine as sano mentioned, was at least two months after Z2 hit the arcades over there.
Wikipedia said 2-27-1996 hmm? AAC and Eternal both say just 3-1996. Wiki came close I guess.
Is this Street Fighter Alpha manga easily available for purchase? I don’t know anything about it, but I’m interested.
Cool, thanks. I need to check out some comic shops asap.
I can’t seem to find Vol. 2 ANYWHERE.
Apparently, UDON’s having a hard time shipping it out or something…
BBCampbell - that’s kinda weird. Try amazon.com? That’s where I got mine from.
BTW, whoever superepped me is dern cool in my books!
That was me lol!
Sano, I’m really anxious for Ryu Final, so your early comment about your preference for the alpha manga makes me ask the question how does Ryu Final hold up? Is it as good as Alpha? Just in general how did you like it?
Btw, you can pm the answer to this next question to avoid spoilers, but does Satsui No Hadou Ryu appear in Ryu Final?
No Satsui No Hadou / Evil Ryu in Ryu Final thank goodness, he gave that up a long time ago lol!
Ryu Final is really freaking good, it answers questions that the games still haven’t answered. Ryu vs. Sagat? Settled. Ryu vs. Gouki? Settled. The main reason I prefer the Zero/Alpha manga is because it features a lot more characters. And in many ways the Zero manga tells more of the story of the game while Ryu Final just focuses on Ryu. I would rather have a manga that covered the events of SF3 (or heck an Udon SF3 comic but I guess that’s 10 years away lol) but it’s still a very good read. Not really any bad things I have to say about it other than I prefer one work to the other, that’s all.
Just in flashbacks.
Yeah just flashbacks lol no Evil Ryu in SF4 please oh please…
Lol, so much E.Ryu hate XD, so with that In mind I HAVE to ask this Sano(don’t hurt me) since Ryu vs Gouki is settled…than does that mean that Gouki goes to…THE NEXT LEVEL!!!(sorry, street fighter card game humor there, you can pm me the answer to this one as well)
You could say that…
Our local comic shop has had Vol 2 for weeks now and no Vol 1. ;_;
Just got Sakura Ganbaru V 2 as well. They seem to be allergic to first volumes or something.
