So, how do you buff low tier in this game?

Spiderman needs 3 things to be viable…

  1. If his web dash were like an air dash, he’d be able to get hits and do mixups.
  2. His web swing, as said should be like Cammy’s cannon drill.
  3. His uppercut needs to be hard knockdown no matter if they hit in the air or the ground. If you’re worried about his MSH infinite, just make him recover at the same rate the opponent floats. Simple.

That said, as is, his best assist is BBHood Projectile, so you have two shitty characters on your team if you play him. Spiderman/Hood/Doom is a good team. Swap doom for Cammy if you need a good anti air.

Why is her projectile so good? You get air combo to maximum spider (c.lk, c.lk, s.hk, A, sj.hp xx maximum spider). You get mixups (launch, A, sj.web dash cross under, s.hk relaunch. launch, A, sj.hp, lp, lk, land, cross under or whatever you want).

Well, making Maximum Spider not suck would be pretty good for Spiderman.

Also Spidey needs a serious damage buff. It takes him forever and a day to kill Sent…like you’d ever touch him.

LOL, funny thing… The reset that I mentioned with Hood… doesn’t even work on Sent. And without a standing Sent infinite, Sent just kills you.

It’s a shame, Spiderman needs to work his ass off for one hit… One fucking hit that leads to what, 40% damage at the very best, and that’s WITH an assist? I mean… it’s not like THIS is practical, or it wouldn’t have taken 10 years to be found and never pulled off in a match.

st.hk (when it doesnt launch) into crawler assault would be pretty baller

Yeah. Too much startup on that super.

And web throw doesn’t do nearly enough damage for the bitch of a time you have to actually make it hit…

HP webthrow guardbreak xx u.web throw doesn’t work if 1. They take the hit from the webthrow, because canceling it makes it a projectile. 2. They push block.
And characters like Cable or Ryu… they pushblock, Spiderman’s dead.

I think I remember reading that it’s very difficult for Sim to fastfly downward with lp, hp, or hk without having a drill (which is tantamount to suicide) accidentally come out instead of the normal, and that this is something that limits his practical usability. Is that correct? Are his drills actually good for anything?? Would he have been a better character if his drills were just straight-up removed???

Some chars with flight need faster fly / unfly recovery… would buff em.
Make sure everyone has air throw… simple but so key sometimes.

Sim’s drill is decent for an instant overhead… just needed different inputs and it would have been ok.

There are a lot of small things that would instantly make a lot of crappy characters better.
The faster fly/unfly would buff a lot of characters, but keeping Magneto/Storm as is, of course, as they’re already damn powerful.
Better air dashes would REALLY help Venom and Spiderman.
Wolverine getting his vitality bumped back up to normal and being able to do his old BnBs would help (e.g. dive kick, hk, c.lk, c.hp, xx BBX) him quite a bit. Both of them. Bonerine already has a great assist.
Chun getting an air combo super and if she were able to hit confirm c.lk c.lk xx kyaku super would be a really nice buff.
Cyclops getting a hard knockdown after his HP throw would help his oki game, making his rushdown much more scary. (The same way it was in XSF)
If Psylocke had a better oki game after her air combo xx super, she’d be fantastic. Maelstrom getting buffed isn’t even relevant with the way the game is played.
Cammy needs 1 thing to instantly make her better - guarantee that KBA never drops. I’m always scared to do that combo just because it might drop and I die from punishment… so I always resort to weaker, guaranteed combos.
Thanos… If he had mind instead of Reality, he’d be god. That’s all.

Chun going back to her MvC1 (or maybe even XSF) form in general would be great.

I’ve said it before in other threads, and I might as well say it here. Turn Morrigan into her UMvC3 self. Map some of her Soul Fists to the kick buttons if need be. Then pair her with Doom’s rocks and then have Sent with drones as anchor. Pretty sure her UMvC3 self would be a better fit in this game since she’d still have to deal with the top 4. AHVB alone means she can easily get KOed, if she isn’t on point with her bullet hell.

Hulk just needs unmashable gamma crush… and a nice bonus would be keeping super armor on air gamma charges.

Give Blackheart chip on Air Demons, access to his old St. MK, J. MP, Cr. MK as a cmd normal and make HOD hit in a way you can’t Guard cancel out is really all he needs. Would still die to Storm though, only really bad MU I feel he has.

Megaman’s buster shot… If that chipped, he’d be amazing.

Shotos should all have an overhead that cancels into launcher and make it faster sorta like Anak’s. Ken’s roll should go farther as well.
Hulk’s command grab should be a command grab and Colossus’s grab also.
No one has said it yet but we all know who kills all low tier with no problems and it’s sent. He needs to be nerfed, lets give him a double jump and a command grab.

havent powered up mvc2 in a while, but i still play the other Vs games, and to put it simply

ryu-make him his xvsf self with equivalent damage in mvc2 and hes a threat. period

ken-dont remember him much from mvc2, but just make him his xvsf self and do something
with his roll to make mixups and good defensive reads be in his favor always.

rogue-take her back to her xvsf self, giving her back no height restrictions on her iad. give her another super, flight, and a little health bump.

juggernaut-make him his xvsf again. all throws including command throws have guaranteed follow ups with launcher. also a little better range on his command throw. make it a real annoying threat.

cyclops-again, xvsf self. thats it. if you want to od on cyclops make him his xvsf self and give him a short range command throw. lol.but really his xvsf is so good, its all you need. tic throws into corner slams with heavy damage loops all day.

sabertooth-xvsf self. give hundred bullets birdie super some start up invincibility and more chip, and hes pretty much fine.

charlie-xvsf self. thats more then enough. seriously

gambit-his xvsf self, corner loops and all, but give him his mvc1 super that he also has in mvc2. he will be really strong being lame, and once cornered can have a field day. id make sure his staff strike (DP+p) on the light version never whiffs over any character and to be a dick you also wouldnt be able to block it low. so once in the corner, have fun. plus the light version of staff strike would be +1. hold that

akuma-who fuckin cares, but make him his xvsf and he will do just fine. you could also adjust his teleport speed and recovery, along with making his demon flip pressure a real threat. maybe also giving demon flip a little invincibility on startup.

colossus-1 frame real command throw, another super, light and heavy shoulder charge is positive on block, so once colossus gets you to block like a heavy or light shoulder charge, you have to worry about command throw, super if you try to hit a button, normal attack string into more shoulder pressure, or simply getting normal thrown. lol. i would make colossus so simple, but so fucking annoyingly good. he would basically be a frame trap monster that sucked in mobility, but you had to respect within a certain range, and once he got started it would be hard to get out. so maybe like light shoulder charge be +2, and heavy shoulder charge be +4 but obviously would have slower startup, so like you couldnt block string into heavy shoulder charge without someone sj’ing out of it or something, but if they dont make that read, or get locked down by assist, then you get your free heavy shoulder charge into pressure.

bbhood-its been so long. i use to play her the most back when. i dont remember much, but i would say give her an invincible dp to deal with rushdown, and an air super that she can super cancel into off of the dp. so its not just like yo gtfo, its gtfo and lose 30 percent. im sure there is more like giving her plus frames on some of her special normals and specials, but id have to fire up mvc2 and go through it all again.

iron man/war machine-you pretty much just make them their mvc1 selves with the msh tri dash iron man had, and oooooo we. also give iron man another super, and i think war machine might need some adjustments to his supers too, but i forget.

spiderman-more fucking damage, being able to combo into at least crawler assault by himself, air dash he can instantly cancel and have a pseudo tri dash where he can do high/low/throw mixups, some type of extended loops (niggas combos are all like 7 hits.lol), maybe less startup on maximum spider to just make it stupid and capable of punishing almost anything on reaction. hmm, probably more. oh yeah dp knocks opponent down no matter what and is untechable, just to make it extra cheap. get dp’d, now you have to eat left/right, high/low mixups with assist. hold that

i mean ideally you would also like to balance out the game mechanics a bit more too without nerfing it to shit. guard break is always stupid, take it out. slow some characters down a little, but not like mvc3 or umvc3. i still enjoy the madness of tri dashers mixing you up and going nuts, but it cant hurt to dial it back a little. even mvc3 vanilla magneto when dialed back was still really fast, but i wouldnt dial mvc2 mags back that much, but you could as long as you dont change his tri dash height limitations. he would still be fucking retarded at rushdown, but he wouldnt be like a ghost on the screen at times. but i think mostly i would only like to see guard break gone.

maybe one day in the future a fine lad will hack the mvc2 dc or ps2 rom and go to town making a great game that will take over the underground players and leave capcom hella salty when no one wants to play shitty umvc3 anymore, and would rather play a hacked mvc2. lol

Hood needs more range anda solid AA. She gets rushed to pieces because she can’t reach you. I mean, her longest attack gets smacked by Magneto’s jabs…
Spiderman needs a better way to get in on people, and give him the ability to have more than 1 web ball combo. Agreed on your other points. Maximum spider needs to be comboable other than off of a grounded hp dp… and his dp needs to cause knock down no matter where it hits, like MSH. Psylocke has it, why not Spiderman?

i like the ideas but I dont think it makes anyone really viable or tournament winning.

@NickRocks At least for my suggestions, I didn’t specify things… I mean, Hood having longer range could make it unnecessary to need to get in on Sentinel, and nor did I specify anything about Spiderman’s thing. They’re not something I’m going to give time to figuring out, but they would help if implemented specifically for those scenarios.

I mean, if Spiderman had his homing web dash thing from MvC3, he could potentially stay on top of Sentinel in the same way that Magneto can. I mean, web dash over the spit, land, back dash to bait commando, web onto Sentinel and keep him blocking until you get a hit, confirm into a MS combo.

If Hood’s projectiles didn’t disappate and she recovered faster she could keep Sentinel at bay. Low missiles into blocking spits, they would go under them. Then if Sent got to the air, and she had a useful AAA instead of her yoga flame shit, she could bring him right back down and lock him down instead.

I’ll say this before anything. Sent is the most fun, hard to master and at the same time scrubbiest character EVER.
What if sent was taken out of the game? Who still dominates low tiers? Strider Doom and Spiral no question.
If Strider has his wall cling move taken out or changed to another command. He would be the best in the game. So many uppercut commands your going to mess up somewhere and do a wall cling.

All of the suggestions does help against Sent actually. No matter how good sent is, he still gets hit. It’s what we can do with those hits. All Spiderman can do with his combo is what 20% on sent? Right now most of the low tiers are NO THREAT to sent. These suggestions at least makes them a low threat.

I think guard breaks are fine. Most guard breaks are escapable. IM, Magz and Cable are the only ones with real inescapable ones and I only really see them from top notch players.
