Well guys I have read both threads (the one that is closed and this one). And this is a real shiity situation.
Anyone with common sense would “feel” for the community: on how they put so much money, time off, practice, and etc…for GAMME.
But then as a T.O, and knowing how it feels to have things go down the drain: it’s never easy to please everyone. And to make sure the things, that are out of your hands, go according to your wishes…can be seriously stressful too.
And the head T.O of this tourney (Manny) has cancer on top of that. That really fucking sucks, THAT REALLLY FUCKING SUCKS…if you ask me.
Before I continue, let just me say: I still don’t understand why GPX hasn’t commented on here about what’s going on. Clearly there should be more to GPX than just MANNY, amirite?
So to answer this thread’s question: “NOW WHAT?”
May is a real tough month to really make something happen. I mean it’s possible, but there are A TON of tournaments happening around the country this month. Simply because of SSF4 being released at the end of April. So many weekends are booked and hella shit is happening. I know Gamme is in the beginig of June…but my point is, DO WE REALLY have enough time to successfully plan something to replace it?
As of right now, A LOT of people may be canceling on Gamme trying to get whatever money back possible. And more n likely, they’ll be using that money for other reasons. Maybe to decide to go to MWC, PowerUp 2010, EVO, or bills, or whatever.
And, as mentioned before, on top of all of this…NO ONE ACTUALLY CANCELED GAMME IN THE FIRST PLACE!
I think the best thing to do is let whatever happens, happen. If Gamme is still go, then let it be. If people want to cancel on Gamme and use their money for whatever else (which is the most probable outcome), let them. And if you guys want to try to do a replacement tournament…then, although I am leary of the success at this point (no offense), go for it.
I know my name (digimonemporer/devildigimon) has been thrown into the mix. And I appreciate people suggesting that I’d try to help out. But I’m going to politely withdrawl. Because I personally have a lot of things going on this month. And to be honest, I don’t believe we have enough time to do anything effective. Other than hope for Gamme’s success (which I’d leave up to the powers that be), or try our very best to refund everyone IN FULL, in case Gamme is CANCELED (again I’ll leave that up to the powers that be).
Let all in which has happened, be a great lesson to everyone. And to teach current T.Os (like myself) and future ones, NOT TO MAKE THESE SAME MISTAKES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
- Here’s to hoping for the best, FOR THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY,
Webster.
