the dolls have always interested me in sf so its nice to see another one of them be represented and as a charge character. i liked cammy but never learn her cus i felt she was op.
im not trying to convince someone to like her, thats their own opinion. just find it odd how salty peeps are getting over a 15 dollar dlc pack. dont like it, dont buy it
decapre has a mask and blades. and where she got the scars from is intriguing. i really dont think changing her skin tone and hair would make all the haters happy - they all were set on which character they wanted and it wasnt one of the dolls.
capcom have limited resources and money to spend on this so obviously they went for the most effective use of that.
im sure the alt costume for decapre will be significantly different from any cammy has.
Street Fighter 1: 2 playable shotos that are clones of each other (Ken/Ryu). 10 CPU only characters
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: 14 brand new characters. Sagat playable for first time. Ryu, Ken, Sagat greatly expanded movesets.
Street Fighter Alpha 3: 12 brand new characters, though Charlie is similar to Guile and Juni/Juli are dolls. In addition Gen, Adon, and Birdie are playable for the first time and have greatly expanded movesets (compared to SF1).
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike: 15 brand new characters. Sean is a shoto, Yun and Yang are headswaps and similar.
Now after all those incredible new designs, let us take a look at Ultra Street Fighter IV. Even though this is 5 years after the initial release of SF4. Out of 45 characters…10 new characters. Oni is a shoto, Decapre is a doll, Gouken is built off the shoto template (weather you agree he is a true shoto or not). So 7 noteworthy designs. Here are your brand new innovative designs over the entire SF4 series.
To be fair, most people prefer to have more characters they already know. I mean, yeah, people want new characters, but people also like knowing they can go into a game, pick a character they already know, and get right to it. Wasn’t SF3 originally going to be devoid of all SF2 characters? And then they had to put Ken and Ryu back in because focus tests showed people needed familiar faces.
New character designs always sound great, but fans are a fickle bunch. How often do you see Hakan in use? Not to mention the casual market that they have to target who never even knew that SF Alpha or SF3 existed. And I’m sure this happens in other series, too. I mean, someone talks about Tekken, I almost always hear of the Tekken Tag games. You know, dream team games where they haul in all the old characters. The companies do this because it’s what people want and you don’t have to pay for new designs people aren’t going to like.
After reading this whole thread I almost forgot Ultra will only be 15 dollars. Even if you think they didn’t do enough or hate decapre, it’s only 15 dollars! Exciting.
That’s probably because the other 4 are playable in Xtekken. She’s the only one people haven’t tried yet so of course they’re most looking forward to her. She’s still a lazy ass design.
is it really that hard not to defended capcom? I bet you defended bad box art megaman for sfxtekken and emo dante, and think devil may cry 2 is a good game
You can’t say Gouken doesn’t count if you count Sakura. Either way it was either all new characters like for Third Strike (which pretty much killed the series) or bring back tons of fan favorites, easy choice for fans and developers alike.
Even removing Sakura, much more great original designs in alpha then SF4. Also there aren’t only 2 choices. You could bring back a bunch of favorites and also have a bunch of gr8 new characters as well. This is what Alpha did.
I will become an expert with Hugo by using Decrape as a punching bag and practicing throwing her around all stages like the rag doll she is. In fact all make sure all other character get a piece of her just for existing in the game
