If we can have Vangief bodying people at Mario Kart at NCR we can certainly have Catherine at Evo

lmao damn it phantomnaut

Well, we had Mario Kart at EVO one year. Don’t see why we can’t have Catherine.

Snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaking all day.

But yeah, I enjoyed the footage. Why are they banning stages though?

I understand where you’re coming from, but in this case the similarities are uncanny.

puzzle matches… man i used to beat everyone in tetris back in the day. no bearing though since its really hard to find actual good competition. suddenly realized i was already competitive even before street fighter2.

back at the thread, catherine looks interesting, does that have online?

No, no online for that mode. You have to beat single player to unlock it also.

One of the stages has a point early on where whoever reaches it first is pretty much unable to not win that round… so it’s essentially a stage that’s a fifth the length of all the other stages.

It’s different from other puzzle games in that most other games usually just let you drop nuisance pieces on your opponent’s side of the field.

In Catherine you directly control how you can fuck with the other person. You can devote extra time/resources to being a dick to the other player, though at the cost of risking your own positioning and ability to climb up.

 Dang I really missed out on this one. Definitely have to come to the next one.

Hell… Mario Kart 64 for EVO!

Oh it’s got a few more legitimate flaws outside of that and the fact you have to unlock vs mode. Moving the character isn’t very polished, but it’s something to get used to. Also, I think anyone who’s played through the 1 player mode or even watched someone play the 1 player mode can tell that the camera movement is waaaaaay too limited during puzzle matches. Then there were those who complained about the difficulty… not just in the states, but in Japan as well, where their version of the game was made harder.

Europe will be getting their version next month.

The developers probably didn’t think Catherine Vs would be such a big “endgame” (if it can be called that.) If this gets big, I hope that Atlus will support the fans with future maps or modes. I heard there is a co-op mode and it would be interesting if there could be 2 vs 2 matches or something.

I actually ordered mine 15 minutes before the stream came on and that was Saturday. Got a used one off Amazon for $43+shipping ($48 total) and shipped yesterday. I am literally checking the shipping status every hour for an update and there isn’t one update yet. The ticking seconds hurt, I tell you. I should’ve had it expedited for $4 more even though it’s only 300 miles away. (From SoCal to NorCal.) Still would’ve been much cheaper than getting it brand new. Ugh.

There is a trial version on XBL which exposes you to most of the game’s aspects. You get one entry level stage and one boss stage which might offer most people a bit of a challenge first time around.

He’s actually 2-0 for winning that tournament. The first one was at Hadocon. He bodies everyone because he knows how to get the speed boost every time at the start of the race lol.

Cosign on Catherine for Evo 2K12

This is gdlk. I wish there was something like this for MNR.

OMFG, ahh shit. Best song I’ve heard.

Wait, what? Where can I see this?

No Sentinel = not a competitive game.

^_-;

I also hope the devs will catch on and unlock multiplayer for everyone. It’ll be super hard to get this game going if it’s not accessible to even start learning. It can be made up for if the community helps it take off though, and that’s something I’d like to see.

dam no online in this game? i would spend hours playing if they had it.

Hey guys. “CEO” of FinestKO here. I’m glad you guys enjoyed the Catherine stream a lot. We’ll probably have more of it in a month from now for the regular NorCal Installs, although for the time being, it’ll be a side event. We’ll stream it, so be sure to tune in on October 8th (that should be the next date for NCI). I’ll try to see if I can get the stream posted up on SRK’s stream calendar or whatever it’s called when the date gets closer.

It’s funny… because we never expected it to get that popular. I went out to dinner while most of the tournament was going on, and when I got back, I had several people come up to me and ask me if I was aware of the huge amount of viewers we were getting. I think we maxed out at 3000 viewers at one point. Seems like word of mouth spreads quickly, haha!

Anyways, glad you guys enjoyed it. We’ll try to bring you more soon!

Keep posting your thoughts and comments, or even feel free to ask questions.

Do you mean September 8th?

I mean October. I’m an idiot. Edited.

(Or maybe I have a time machine.)
