I put my fliptop case on my PS2 but I can’t quite get the screws all to fit or for it to line up correctly and the part the disc sits on doesn’t sit quite flat nor does it spin. Did I break my PS2 or what? I just get disc read errors because it won’t spin.
P.S. come over on friday
Aren’t flip tops model specific?
Yeah, but honestly, I’m almost sure this is user error.
I think they basically come in V1-3 or 4, the earlier models, and then the more common one is like V5-9 or 7 or whatever. I don’t have one of thems early PS2s, but it is a fat one.
And the screw thing I think is just because I’ve stripped a couple of 'em before… I’m mostly wondering the deal with the disc not spinning. That’s not even… really… part of the fliptop? Ya know? Heh.
I don’t mean to bring up something obvious, but why can’t you just get a slim ps2 and mod that? (aside from the obvious cost reasons)
The discs need to be slightly slanted when you put it in. Try manually spinning the disc with your finger to see if its in correctly.
So like, a little bit slanted in the sense that as it starts spinning slowly, it looks uneven but as it speeds up it pretty much looks stable? 'Cause that’s how it is and that seems like a problem. What happened to them lying flat? It’s getting DRE (discreaderrors) ever since I noticed the wobbly/slanted disc. Because like… it doesn’t spin it. I tried spinning it myself and closing the tray and shit, nothing worked.
Someone who comes over on Friday should take a look at it. :shake:
Cost reasons are a big problem with me, so… No, I can’t buy a slim ps2 and a slim flip top. Especially because I just spent money on a FAT flip top. Real tight on money right now.
Now it spins. It grinds and doesn’t read it, then I like open it up and it tries to start spinning out of control. Hahah. Is that little magnet thing supposed to go on the bottom where the disc goes or in the top of the white thing? It got sucked into the white thing once and neither way really helped.
The magnet goes on top of the white thing. You could try unscrewing and rescrewing the top circle thing for the white thing to make it stop grinding. I did that and it stopped grinding for some reason. Maybe it just needed to be tightened. You could also put a book on top to put pressure on the fliptop to make it stop doing that noise. The noise could also be from the fliptop not being completely shut.
What game are you trying to play thats getting you a read error? A Japanese game? Or is it a US game?
Wait so the magnet does go in the white thing, not just sitting on the center of the rotary motor dealy or whatever? I managed to get this shit to work by just taking the white thing out and taping the motherfucking magnet/disc down with a tiny piece of tape. The DREs are because it spins and just throws the fucking disc off the center. There’s no screws to be tightened on the white thing, it’s just a loose piece of plastic held by three little plastic… things.
