RB suffers from the same problem KOF does- there really isn’t a “universal best game of the series”
I know people who think each of these games is the best FF game
FF Special
RB1
RBSP
RB2
Garou
The big difference is all those games are roughly equal in quality, but different (well, there’s one I think is inferior, but a lot of people don’t agree with me) The rest are solid, good games.
RB1 is my personal favorite, for its overall ambience and theme, even if it is a bit broke and unbalanced.
Anyone have that youtube link to those 3D Samurai Shodown matches?
Thanks Overlord and arstal. I was kind of thinking about the Real Bout series so I will probably try that. I know I’ll try and introduce them to 98 UM and Garou now that you mention it (don’t know why that slipped my mind). Thanks guys :tup:.
Actually, just saw the SC. If you want an SNK scene, look for the Lucky’s tournies in Greensboro NC. 2.5 hours away just head up I-77 to I-85. Skill level is rather high for non-immigrant American standards. Thought that town name looked familar, I often drove past it on the way out of Shaw when I was on leave.
Your best bet might be netplay given how far you are from civilization though outside of tournies.
I’ll probably look into netplay for now (especially considering gas prices right now).
As for the NC scene, I keep hearing good things about it and would love to get a chance to head up there sometime; with school and all going on, I’ll just stick to netplay for now (besides, I’d be no match for anyone up there).

SO I’ve read that ADK Heroes is supposed to be at TGS this year on the SNK stand. Would any of you be kind enough to tell me if anything is known about this game? is this anything to do with ADK of World Heroes fame?
Which KOF is regarded as the best and/or most popular currently? I kind of want to pick up playing one of these games, as KOF 98 looks pretty fun. Couldnt get into XI.
KoF’98 Ultimate Match is the current version used at tournaments, and regular '98 is still played online. You shouldn’t really bother with any other versions, maybe except 2k2 UM if it’s good (currently in development).
98um, especially considering you couldn’t get into XI.
Well, they’re held on Saturdays, it could be a daytrip, get out at 10am, get back at 11pm or so.
If you’re playing each other, you could be decent comp, and you’ll definitely get better from the experience. GGPO would do you more good short-term though.

How regularly are the tournaments held? Is it only for a month or two, or is it basically a regular thing throughout the year; if its a regular thing then I will look into getting up there one day (hopefully soon). I really want to learn 98 UM too, so that’s the main reason I hope to make it up there.
As for 98, I don’t have access to UM right now but I do have an older version of 98. I know there are new characters added to UM and some things have been tweaked with the characters, but would it still be okay to practice combos and what not?
They’re held about once a month, twice a month in the summer.
As for UM, given that it need a bit more support to stay viable- the next one is the one you want to show up too, especially if a new game kills it dead, such as SF4.
Yes, regular 98 will help with UM. Some differences, but it’s like using SNES SSF to practice for ST.
Okay, I will definately plan on making one sometime. I know I wouldn’t be able to make the next one coming up due to work however.
Is UM really on a downfall though? I figured it’d stay somewhat popular in tournies since its considered one of the best KoF games out there. I kinda figured SF4 will eclipse every new fighter coming out just due to having the Street Fighter name, but as long as UM stays somewhat popular I’ll be happy because I really love 98.
Regardless of that, I do plan on supporting the game even after SF4 is released.

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask but anyone has a detailed info on the spirit system of tenka? I have the import anthology and Im strugglin with the kanjis to know how-to or what-is in this game.
