Hey folks.
On February 5-7, I’m hauling a few of my MVS cabs to TempleCon 2010, which is an annual multi-genre gaming convention now being held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, Rhode Island. I’ve been helping out since '06, and it’s a pretty good time.
It has been running for five years now, draws a good number of people, and generally has a lot of both gaming and non-gaming stuff going on 24 hours a day for three days; from tournaments, to live music, to scotch tasting seminars.
Anyway, onto the part that matters. I’m organizing a pair of casual NeoGeo tournaments at the con on a trio of dedicated MVS cabs, which are being referred to as Anthology Tournaments. In short, they are two separate standard structure, double elim events utilizing the entire collection of games from both original Samurai Shodown and KOF series, in that the players have some degree of control over which games they play during each match. No, these are not intended to be a pro-level pair of tournaments. We all know that there are games in both the classic SS and KOF stable that are less than perfect for tourney play. What this is intended to be an excuse for KOF and SS fans to get hammered at the lounge and screw around with a fun tournament format in a nice venue, talk some shit, and maybe go home with some prizes provided by SNKP Japan and a few other sponsors.
Yes, since it is a fairly large event overall, SNKP was cool enough to sign on as a prize sponsor and promise us some stuff to give away. I have no idea what they are sending, but we’ll also have some items from the other many event sponsors. There isn’t any additional entry fee outside of the normal convention badge, which isn’t expensive. Pre-registration for badges and whatnot can be found here.
So that’s it. If anyone has any input or questions about event structure, let me know. All in all, this is pretty much a fun excuse to get Neo fans together at a rather cool event in New England.
Thanks guys.
