and dont forget in FF1 it took him 3 hours to die in the hospital after falling outta of skyscraper lol
Well, the Garou stuff is becoming increasingly intertwined into KOF. But Garou is being made up to become a sequel to it. Terry’s in his snazzier jacket now in KOF, and it’s all the somewhat older characters who show up in KOF2k3/XI. If they through in Hotaru, Rock and Kim Dong Hwan (or Jae Hoon) then yeah, that’d be whack. But they kept it with the older people (sorta…) with Gatou, Tizoc and Jenet. And at the end of XI, I read somewhere that Yuri and Ryo talk about Khushnood becoming a Kyokugen green belt. But yeah, KOF98, KOF 2002, Neowave and Maximum Impact take place entirely seperately since they are either dream matches or crappy. But I think the main KOFs take place in stride with the other SNK games, more or less.
As for aging…it’s mainly cuz SNK are too lazy to make new sprites
Plus, who’d wanna play as an old Mai? There’d be droopage everywhere.
Still, it’s a bit off. The way that the whole relationship that the different KOF-related series (as told by like the storyline director in his blog) basically flows like so:
“Story of Southtown”:
Includes all AOF and Fatal Fury games. Feel free to swap in “Wild Ambition” for Fatal Fury 1 as a “ret-con/re-telling”, if you so wish. Geese is definitely DEAD as of Real Bout Fatal Fury.
“KOF (2D)”:
Basically starts off with grounds in the “S.O.S” series, but with some changes. For one, we can probably assume that Ryo and his crew probably are around the same ages as the Fatal Furies. For two, Geese still lives. And for three, the various going-ons of the “big picture” that KOF provided rubs off on both established and new characters/places (such as Yamazaki being an Orochi Hakkeshu member, and a portion of Southtown being blown up by the Zero cannon).
Again, while borrowing quite a bit from the “original” continuity, KOF still offered its own spin on things, such that there’s really no feasible way to fit it into the SOS storyline. At least, not unless they could explain why some characters are mostly “locked” in their ages, or are clearly not at the proper age that they should be.
KOF Max Impact:
This one is yet another series that again borrows some aspects of the SOS series, perhaps even moreso, given how the likes of Rock and possibly even Mr. Karate-Ryo (if he’s more canonical than regular ol’ Ryo) are at thier “proper” ages. Even so, like with KOF2D, MI still takes place within the confines of its own timeline (and imo, thank God for that).
So, what’s the main thing to consider here? More or less, the way you look at KOF with respect to the other SNK series is the same way one would look at Super Robot Taisen (the SRPG series with a lot of anime/manga mecha cross-overs). While SRT may indeed borrow bits and pieces of the original storyline material that the different mecha series may hail from, each SRT series is still “self-contained”. And furthermore, thanks to the original characters, events and aspects that can be introduced in the SRT plotlines, it only emphasizes the notion more of how SRT is just a collective fangasm to satiate the fanboys’ wants. Same thing with KOF; it started out as just a “cross-over dream match” itself, after all…
LOL.
Well, if nothing else, maybe it would finally give Mai a reason to calm her hot ass down, and put some more damn clothes on. There’s plenty of ways for a girl to be hot and sexy without having to be overly slutty or borderline pedo-material, correct?
Either that, or SNK could just as easily say that Mai “passed” the torch to another girl who became her student, who would then serve as Hokutomaru’s (hopefully aged to at least a teenager, by now) rival/love interest, or something to that effect…
Funny is I thought about the same thing…DROOPAGE with an aging Mai.
Come to think about it Mai has like only been top tier in 2 appearances!!!
RBFF and FF2!!! Believe it!!! Mai has many people to pass it on to-Angel, Elizabeth, Shermie, and many others, I’m sure SNKP could create a new hot ass big titty person no problem!!!
CyberAkuma is right Spud, the games as a whole now and days take place separately.
Yeah that was funny about Geese taking a while to die in Fatal Fury 1. Then guys let’s throw in FFSp, a non canon related game right that lets discuss, was it a dream match or the real Fatal Fury 2???
Actually Mai would make one hot MILF.
KOF is seperate from all other SNK series’ storyline.
It is a “dreammatch” series. Which gets confusing because the KOF universe has its OWN dreammatch games (98’, 02’, and Neowave).
Also KOF Impact and Another Day are spinoffs from KOF which are NOT part of the canon KOF universe and in fact are their own seperate universes.
Standard SNK Universe Canon series:
Last Blade->Art of Fighting->Fatal Fury---->Buriki One------>Garou–>Kizuna
(1864-65)…(late 1970’s)…(1991-96)…(20 yrs post-AOF)…(2006)…(2080’s)
King of Fighters<-||||->KOF Dreammatches (98’, 02’, Neowave)
…|…
…|…
/--------------
Another…Maximum
Day…Impact
Geese died in the Standard SNK Universe FOR GOOD in 1996, when he fell from Geese Tower in Real Bout.
He is alive and well in the KOF Universe.
He is dead for whatever reason in the Maximum Impact universe (though he makes an Easter Egg appearance in the unlockable Howard Arena stage…). The playable unlockable Geese in Max Impact 2 is “Nightmare” Geese…the ghostly shadow (i.e. DEAD) of Geese as seen in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special.
Yes Nightmare Geese=DARK GEESE, Oooo about time someone got it!!! Yes good stuff Shiki!
Well, thing about Mai is that since she goes without a bra, the gravity pulling down on her mommy bags in her already poorly-postured fighting stance would stretch out the skin and make her have full-blown fried-eggs-hanging-off-a-nail boobs. Shermie would’ve been good with her major push-up-puppies if she weren’t dead. Mary…who knows?
SNK’s storylines are more screwed up and confusing than the family tree of a midieval European royal family. Between the AOF cast getting 20 years chucked on and off their age, the ton of games which may or may not be cannon, and Geese’s status being so confusing even he doesn’t even know if he’s alive (which can give you a facking migraine…:looney:
They are crahhhzee Mr Fahltee.
Tekken’s storyline is almost as crazy…everyone always comes back…and like Mortal Kombat no one really dies…
I mean seriously, how could they truly kill Geese? Have you not noticed how the Dream matches work? They are a combination of the most voted for characters!!! SNK votes the characters for the Dream Matches…so they want our input…and of course you know Mai is there for fanboys as well as Athena…changhing her outfit constantly like some pop star.
What if Mai changed her outfit? Would you all really like that? What about Mai in some red Kimono or dress? That would look elegant and sexy!!!
Wait Wait Wait… let’s go crazy!
Let’s actually have Geese come back in the Garou sequel, but change his name to G’, and he’s a clone yeah yeah! But he needs some special wrist braces to control his power… and…
And then let’s cross over Brocken from World Heroes, as a mid-boss, cause what better opponent is there than a cyborg with exendable limbs. But who’s Brocken working for? Why is he in Second South? Wait wasn’t Kain’s last name Heinlein, sounds German to me… wait! isn’t Brocken German! OMG! it’s all coming together!
bacck to the topic
have they said which games they are bring to the USA?
they said kof but i bet that just means the 3d shit and not 11(or nbo or ss6)
There’s lotsa games they could bring over. They could bring over the Orochi/Nests saga, the Fatal Fury/Art of Fighting Collections, Neowave, XI, NGBC, Samurai Showdown 4 and 5, Metal Slug 5, and Garou.
Considering that NeoWave is available on Xbox, it has online and it costs $20, if SNKP decided to bring NeoWave to US on PS2 they’d probably have to give it away for free. It probably would be a nice idea to bundle NeoWave & KOF XI together for a US release. I already have both games so I don’t really care whether they come out here or not.
SNK is too lazy to make this happen
Tekken doesnt have a story anymore, its just a bunch of what If’s now.
Really everything eneded in Tekken 3, fours story just fucked everything up and five is quite ridiculous, hey grandpa’s been living under the stairs for the last 100 years, what !!
Yea that whole devil gene saga is played out, its dragging on and on, the other characters just have comdey endings now.
atleast XI pretty much tries to Involve every character into the main storyline and not just one team.
Yeah, but they said “SNK Playmore hopes to bring a new King of Fighters compilation to North America” so they may just slap together XI and Neowave. I mean, I’d want them to slap XI and NGBC together, but it prolly ain’t gonna happen.
