Not yet, which is what I was trying to tell people in the team theory fighting thread when I said Dante’s aa assist didn’t work like that and assists in the game are different. People (who have never played the game mind) tried to tell me that “spamming assists is key” & “Dante’s aa assist is better than commandos”.
Its better in terms of combo abillity and pressure but thats it. Its a good anti air if used pre-emptively like said.
There were a couple moves keits missed out in his vid. If you mash the exchange button after jet stream and his other qcb + attack moves? (i think) Dante does his dance macibre combo from dmc3 (which you can’t cancel into super or anything else as far as I know).
He also has his drive move from dmc3 aswell (the one where his sword charges and glows red) I think you have to hold on the exchange button for that aswell. Saw some other stuff but can’t remember/did by accident and could never do again.
By the way a lot of these moves aren’t too useful. Something might come up when everyone has training mode but as of now I would say the majority are pretty pointless.
Situational, sure. Full out “pointless”, however? Can’t agree with you there. Lets wait before we condemn half of Dante’s moves to failure.
Also, for Dance Macabre and all those other moves, I have them all listed in the first post of this thread. Check it out.
Agreed. Also, Dante can rekka into his specials at differently. By either immediatly canceling into it (to where the first move doesn’t even come out) or doing it delayed, where the special comes out after the first special. I can imagine the mind games that’ll cause.
Imagine doing crystal. Opponent blocks. And dashes in for punish, yet you rekka into million carats. I think playing around with how fast you rekka into Dante’s other special will be a strong suit in his ground game.
@Ihatethisgame: Thanks for clearing that up, so I imagine there gonna be a lot less assist spamming in mvc 3 since by your account most assist lack invincibility. And although I am disappointed to hear you say that, I pretty much assumed that most of his moves would prove to be slightly useless in the grand scheme of things. Heres hoping some dudes prove me wrong when the game comes out though.
On a side note, as a general question to all dante hopeful, would you guys have preferred it if his move set was more like ammateratsu’s in the sense that he had weapon switches and each weapon came with a slightly different move list? That was what I was kind of expecting when I heard he would be in the game to be honest.
Dude there ARE a bunch of invincible assists. Not only that but the recovery ‘taunt’ animation after the assist finishes is fully invincible for all characters. Assists are a lot safer because of that. You need to punish them mid animation.
When I first heard Dante was in, my original moveset idea paled in comparision to what they did. I like the way they made Dante unique in MvC3, giving him a crapton of moves from DMC3. I don’t think it would’ve been quite the same if they did him like Ammy.
Oh my bad, I must have misinterpreted your post. So I guess that means a hell of a lot more assist spamming in this then.
True say he wouldn’t have been as unique had they made him like ammy. I guess the one thing that makes me wish they did is the fact that I would have liked more control over which weapons I used, in the sense that as far as I know, most of his pokes as performed with the broad sword equipped and I would have loved to have been able to switch it up every now and then. But a minor gripe, and he is still looking rather epic and incredibly unique to the say the least. I wonder if DT drastically changes the properties of all his moves, that would be something cause then we would be looking at something around 80 moves.
Assists were fully invincible after the taunt animation in mvc2 and iirc it’s always been like that, it doesn’t make assists any “safer” because of this. The only ones we know of so far with some startup invincibility are GTFO me assists like Morrigan’s and Ryu’s, and even then these can get punished, so it’s really too early for you to be saying assists are “a lot safer” and there are a “bunch” of invincible assists when we only know of two so far with some startup invincibility.
Personally from what I’ve played, I felt it was easier to punish assists(even without double snaps) in this game than in mvc2, but that’s just my opinion.
It’s too early to tell though if the animation comes out slower or faster in mvc2, but I’m going to take a guess that we won’t be seeing a GTFO assist as potent as captain corridor(which Jam Session is not).
Let me stop going off topic though now, since I don’t wanna turn Jocelot’s topic into a debate.
hate him or love him kail is a fantastic dmc3 player
anyway back to business
im a hardcore dmc fan and ive been following the game for a while now, but can anyone confirm if all the moves we seen previously are going to be in the final build? I havent seen anyone use fireworks, helm breaker or dance macabre in a while.
