I was at Target the other day and I noticed they had 15’’ HDTVs ranging from like 250 to 350. I was wondering if these are worth the money. And if they are should I get one? I mean some even have a built in DVD player(that makes it an HD DVD player right), you can’t go wrong with that can you?

I highly doubt that the DVD player built into a $250 HDTV will be an HD DVD or BluRay player.
I have one, and as far as gaming goes it’s only good if your going to be fairly close to it (tv stand or desk) I mounted it on the wall in the corner of the room and all the high def doesn’t really mean shit since it’s so far and away:crybaby: but as far as the picture goes it’s off the chain, no lag or other problems to report
The ones with the built in DVD players are the $350 ones
HD DVD is a format, different that DVD, that is able to store a larger amount of data and therefore a larger resolution picture… in theory.
The main reason to have an HDTV is for picture quality. On a 15-inch screen everything will look pretty much the same. Unless space is a big issue for you, I wouldn’t bother with such a small LCD. You can get a nice 20+ inch tube TV for about the same prices. But if space isn’t an issue, I’d just save up and get a bigger one.
Probably already said, but the small screen nullifies its main advantage: superior picture quality.
Small HDTV’s will still have the same lag problems that any other HDTV has, to the best of my knowledge. Fubarduck’s thread has all sorts of answers for us, but some of them are expensive… I wouldn’t mind shelling out that kind of money to get a bigscreen to work, but I personally lose interest when the solution approaches the cost for the TV itself.
It’s worth mentioning you can probably get a good computer monitor–which should deal with any sane resolution (and thus minimize lag issues)–of similar size for the same price. Make sure you can it has the right plug sockets or you can find the right adapters or whatever, and you’re good to go.
ususally monitors with composite or s-video in inputs are way more expensive, i guess you could always get away with a vga box, but i think those are iffy
but yeah 360 with hd-dvd addon plus samsung b226 equals awesome picture
I got a 27" Vizio for about 500 with a 3 year warranty at Wal-Mart. I usually sit about 5 feet away from it when I game. It looks great and I’m happy with my purchase, but if I had a bigger living room, I probably wouldn’t be too happy with it.
I’m thinking about getting a 19 - 25 inch tv probably from target, if your sitting close it shouldn’t be a problem. I use a 15" tube tv and I love how compact the tv is…now only if they can have a hd tv like this
Aw, I just got schooled like I’m watching the Knowledge Network.
lol theres nothing theory about it, HD DVD/BR is a much better picture than dvd.
still talking about theoretical possibilities.
you can author low bitrate HDDVDs. It’s NOT likely that you’ll run into one, but it’s still possible.
I got a 26in Samsung LCD and it’s plenty big enough since I sit fairly close. I actually could’ve bought the 32 inch one for the SAME price but it’s just too big for my setup. I’d go 26 at least if I were you.
