Slow input responses

I’ve used a N64/PS2 -> USB adapter, and a hacked MS Sidewinder pad (via Gameport). Using either, I always seem to have a serious input response problem.

When I restart my PC and launch up kawaks, the input responses are lightning fast. I never mess up super combo executions on super turbo and alpha 3. Now for some reason, if I leave my PC on running for a while (about over an hour), I’d jump back into kawaks, and becomes nearly impossible to do a simple cr.forward -> super :annoy: . Sometimes a simple standing attack doesn’t come out around 20% of the time, despite blatantly hitting the button really hard.

I’m 100% certain there are no loose wires or any dodgy connections inside the stick, and as I said before, restarting my PC effectively fixes everything. I’ve tried closing practically all non-essential processes in the task manager, to no improvement at all.

Does anyone else get this similar problem?

See if it works fine with other emulators. Since it worsens with time, I would guess that it has something to do with the driver. Just a thought. Is this for online or offline play?

Both online and offline. And yes, I get pretty much the same response from MAME too.

It could be either of the follow 2 situations:

  1. It’s in your head.
  2. It really does slow down. In which case, it is highly unlikely to be hardware fault. I haven’t done much experimentations with the gameport (assuming you mean the pc joystick port) and not sure if it behaves that way with time. If its something from the driver/hardware side, unplugging and replugging should be able to get rid of the delay for a while until it becomes slow again. If its something from your o/s or otherwise, the delay should remain there. Try it on different machines or whatever. If you are unable to figure it out which part is faulty, consult the techie nerds: http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=177

You could always try to update your drivers for said hardware.
