I modded my Hori Ex2 with just the Sanwa GT-Y 8 way gate. Pretty simple job and as many have said, it really feels like a completely different controller/stick.
The only issue I have now is there is always one direction (whether it be U/D/L/R or one of the diagnols), where when you push the stick all the way to the extreme, it kind of “jumps” at the very end. If you play around with the stick, you can actually move the problem to any direction you like. I have mine set to down since I notice it the least there.
Does anyone know what I mean by “jumps”? Bascially, when moving the stick to the outer perimeter, eventually you feel more resistence than normal (though very slight), then you will hear a little pop, and the stick sort of slides the rest of the way instead of a rolling feeling. The best way to feel this is to move the stick very slowly from the center to all extremes. Again this behavior only happens at one of the eight exteme directions. All 7 other directions will have a consistent roll all the way to the outside.
Now if I reinstall the original Ex2 4 way square gate the problem does not exist. And the reason is gate does not allow you to move the stick far enough for this issue to occur.
Does anyone know what causes this problem, and if there is away to correct it? I tried to take the stick apart to get a better look, but had some problems getting the C-clip off. It’s rare that I notice the problem during gameplay, but it would be nice to fix if possible.
