Good night, sweet prince.
Why on Earth would they use Gamespy
Because maybe is the easiest way to crossplatform, I mean they cant do it like Portal 2 because Skullgirls on PS3 is not Steamworks and maybe an update for that will cost money.
Skullgirls on PC is Steamworks.
While the game will be available on steam, it is not a game made by Valve so they probably can’t use the same system that Portal 2 uses for crossplatform play.
Because Mike Z stated as much on stream a few months ago. I’m not assuming anything about what has happened since then. None of the above points dip into speculation, such as who is free to work on what at this point.
But if you really want to speculate, just look at the way things have gone so far and be realistic about when things are really going to happen. The closest thing to an accurate date for when anything SG is going to take place is when a representative of Reverge Labs clearly states it. I wouldn’t be reading into the upcoming patch coming out soon as meaning the PC port is going to suddenly follow it. If it was a sure thing, you would have heard it from Ravidrath or Mike Z by now… and instead Ravidrath isn’t certain about whether PC will hit this year. That should be a clear indication of where your expectations should lie.
Read what he said again. He said on PS3 it’s not a Steamworks game. As far as I know Portal 2 on PS3 is a Steamworks game and you use a Steam account for the Steamworks features, so for Skullgirls they would have to change the already existing online so that people who already bought it on PS3 now would need a Steam account to play it online. That’s not convenient at all.
So it’s all very confusing but who gives a shit because I’m sure it’ll work just fine.
The official announcement also said that crossplatform play wouldn’t be available at launch, so quite possibly they will have to wait till they patch up the PS3 version to support steamworks on psn. No idea one way or the other. I gotta agree with smashbro29 on this, it is very confusing and unclear.
Yeah, PS3 crossplatform is awesome as fuck but we need to get PC multiplayer first. And port itself before it. So yeah, right now it’s too early to worry about all this.
Agreed but I still wouldn’t mind a beta mainly because I don’t have a console so I haven’t played this game yet. Sigh why did my brother take back the Xbox and my friends have to work graveyard shift.
Well im in the same boat. Never had a console, don’t know anyone with one. But I love anime, i love fighting games, etc. So this game is perfect… other then the fact that i cant play it lol
Just a short video preview of the pc version could be nice…oh well, going back to waiting.
Well, I love the Visual Art Style of Skullgirls. Is there anything wrong with that?
What?!
“The framework for PS3/PC cross-play has already been added to the game. If/when the PC version comes out it should be doable.”
IF? that means that the port can be cancelled?
Cut that out, your causing unnecessary anxiety. Of course it COULD be cancelled. Any game has that risk, regardless of company size (which is one of the reasons they try not to tell everyone everything) up until its released. Just look at MML3, the most famous recent example.
Just wait until the patch is out for consoles, they’ve stated multiple times that they’ll be able to go into detail about the state of the PC version after that point.
Just letting you know that “if” was the exact language Mike Z used on stream. It doesn’t mean anything is canceled. But im sure reverge is taking one thing at a time.

No, but it’s *not exactly *anime. We’ve been over that, though.
Poor Mike is probably about 1600% more frustrated about the delay on the patch than anybody else and pretty disillusioned on how things are ‘working’, so that sentence drowned in salt. Wouldn’t give too much on that.
