Skullgirls Official PC Beta Tournament Announcement: 8/14 - 8/12, Over $2000 In Prizes!

Skullgirls PC Beta Tournament Has Over $2000 in Prizes
Tournament lasts from August 14th to August 21st

Los Angeles, CA – August 1st, 2013 – Marvelous AQL, Autumn Games and Lab Zero Games will be holding an online tournament for the PC version of their critically-acclaimed 2D fighting game, Skullgirls.

The top 20 tournament winners will receive prizes with a combined worth of over $2000, to be announced at a later date.

The beta version of Skullgirls has a number of changes and improvements over the current console version, including improved balance and the inclusion of the first DLC character, Squigly. Like its console counterparts, the PC version of Skullgirls’ online play is powered by the rock-solid, lag-free GGPO networking library.

To obtain a Steam code for the beta, one must pre-order the game at any of the participating digital stores, or get a code from a participating media partner.

Stores
GameFly, GamersGate, Gamefly, Origin, Steam

Media Partners
CheapAssGamer, Destructoid, Polygon, Shacknews, Siliconera

Codes distributed by media partners are restricted-use codes, but will offer full access to the game’s multiplayer modes until the game’s official release on August 22nd. Beta codes received from Lab Zero Games’ wildly successful Indiegogo campaign or pre-orders will never expire, letting players test new changes and characters before their official release.

Once a player has access to the beta, to enter the tournament players simply need to register at the following URL:

Salt.

This is awesome news! Anyway, is the tournament open to everyone in the world or is it for US residents only?

Mike said on IRC earlier that it’s worldwide.

Really great news, enjoying the game on Steam as well.

Good to see support for the game. Though with the google doc it says to include Steam username, I feel it’d be better to include your steam community url, only because searchable aliases are changeable and multiple people can share the same name which may make it harder to find each other when it comes to playing.

Hey, how do we know we were signed up? Do we get some kind of email?

Registration page isn’t working.

they said they are going to knock out some last minutue entries because they went over there cap and then they will email everyone with further instructions by the end of this week

We reached 1024 participants? That’s insane.

I feel like the international matches are gonna have a lot of forfeits/unplayable matches.

East coast US player vs australian player? No problem. Set frame delay too 500 and you’re ready to ROCK AND ROLL!!!

This is what I’m worried about. I live in Estonia, but I did manage to have stable matches with USA players (Including LA guys like Nekro Surge) with Delay 5, but I never tried playing matches against people from Asia, Australia and South America.

So what’s going on, guys. I haven’t gotten any instructions yet.

That happened to me, first match was fine and after that it turned into an episode of Dragonball Z with Goku and Vegeta teleporting everywhere

@Zidiane - Instructions should be in your e-mail that you signed up with

Is there a stream where I can watch?

Each pair of players do the matchmaking themselves, so it’s up to them whether they stream. There’s a fair bet that most of the finals would be streamed simply because you would think that the experienced players would be the ones left at the end.

Is there results or the top 8 bracket anywhere?
