SG could play the “it’s either this or smash” card, I guess.
Or mobilize artists to post support art (already happening to some extent), urging their fans to donate. Artists love SG.
I tried #1. All I got was blank stares and “When’s marvel on?” as for #2…thats what I’ve been using tumblr for. I use like 20 different tags all the characters names, various SG related things, the words “cosplay”, “Animation”, and every post I’ve made promoting the drive…also includes the term “swag wagon” I’d say I’m doing justice. All things considered.
Well if you’re thinking the “either this or smash” card would work, then maybe you’re expecting everyone else to be as biased against smash as you are.
The “Either this or Smash” Argument won’t get us far. It makes it sound like pick the lesser of two evils. About as productive as shooting ourselves in the foot. I doubt everything is clear cut where you have to love SG and hate Melee and Vice Versa

I simply want a non-big name game to win.
And you are naive if you think there aren’t people who, for whatever reason be it spite or other, would donate to have SG over Melee even if SG wasn’t their first choice.
Like, if someones first choice was GG or MvC2. Perhaps they’d help SG if the only two realistic choices turned out to be that or Melee.

It was never about the picture itself, it was the dialogue with the picture to create some humor for the viewer to laugh and feel compelled to throw in at least $5 for the time involved. In fact its supposed to be disgusting (its double nuff said) thats why the dialogue goes with the art
That’s why I specified “If you expected it to work”. If you weren’t expecting that to make a real difference, then my “accusation” doesn’t apply.
Being overly defensive for me would have been giving a dissertation of the competitive qualifications of smash/melee.

Better than drawing nothing. It doesn’t have to light the fires of inspiration, echoing promises of valor and victory in the hearts of all who donate from this pic. Fanart is about showing passion for whatever you’re passionate for. That alone has been enough to motivate me to watch/play/read things I haven’t before. After that, it’s up to the individual fan to donate/support the franchise. This piece of art could be better in every way, showing every character both playable and known, but it wouldn’t motivate someone who wasn’t going to donate anymore than this simple, rather nice picture would.
