Because it is very important to have a set standard of rules for a tournament, and especially in this case because it effectively gives players who agree on 2/3 more chances than they should be given in a double elim tourney. The game was balanced to be played a certain way, so we should respect that unless it is changed or shown to be grossly unbalanced. Live with it, please.
forgot to put for online in my original post. Yeah for tournies you should have to play by standard rules
Doesn’t hurt to have the option in unranked matches. But ranked should stay as it is.
Then let me see what assists they’re picking before the match starts. lol.
Then, I’ll be perfectly fine with 1 round Solo v 2/3
Who have you been playing? I main Solo bella, and have seen a time out only once.
I don’t play solo. I play Peacock/Filia.
Truthfully, the issue will become all but gone after people develop better neutral games and hit combos more consistently, and I’m sure at any large tournament it’s a non-issue already once you hit top 12 or so. But at local tournaments, I want to claw my eyes out. I might also be wrong about it becoming a non-issue if defense becomes so strong in this game. It’s not filled with nearly as many gimmicks as, say, UMVC3 or strings of 3 or 4 50/50s in a row like GG, and the speed of the game feels a hair slower than most in the air-dash genre, so opening someone up might be more difficult than imagined.
On the other hand, who the hell will pick 1 character after this game’s out for two months or so? So I’m probably worried over exactly nothing.
tl;dr - Disregard, and also I suck cocks.
…Oh you could just make it 3/5 format like UMVC3 is trying to do to solve it’s high paced speed problem.
Skullgirl doesn’t have guard break setup on par with MVC2 or MVC3. The speed of the game isn’t faster than GG. So I don’t see this change is real necessary to be honest…
…
slowly raises hand
<_>
Why do so many in the fgc seem to think that people will automatically pick teams based on what is, by popular opinion, good? What if I want to go solo because I want to go solo? Futhermore… oh, wait… I’m supposed to disregard that. Have fun with your… hobbies.
The round system is fine. If anything carried over from one round to the next in 1v1 then I’d comment more but I think it’s fine.
Then make the game 1 round all the time. Bottom line, this is a fighting game that doesn’t have a set amount of rounds and for pure competition, this needs to be standardized. Even if it means one round in 1v1.
You keep making threads; invariably they are almost always shitty. Here’s a quick top 10 things that would improve SRK posting quality and reduce the stress on the servers:

The game has been out for 2 weeks and some change. Most opinions on anything to fix that isn’t cosmestic or involving something to do with training mode are all moot and should be ignored. This forum needs to stop going Skull Retard when it comes to things.
I like this suggestion more than anything else that’s been bandied back and forth about rounds.
This thread’s already run its course. Let’s wait 5-6 months (or even better, a year) before discussing something that would drastically re-define the game.
