Since their player can do 60 FPS, it should be a much better experience for everyone than dealing with MegaUpload and the terrible nuances of video compression. It’ll also get the game in front of a lot more people and let them see the game at its best.
We’ve given them the video and are just waiting for them to post it now.
I’m pretty sure that I haven’t used IGN in years and Gametrailers is meh. I’m not going to bitch at Ravidrath or anyone about it because they put a lot of thought and work into the whole thing, but I was actually pretty happy with downloads complemented by 60FPS footage on youtube for others. I’ll probably watch it sooner or later if I don’t forget it about it.
Not going to hold it against anyone or make a big deal out of it so let’s leave it at that.
Wait, so you’re saying the usage of the Sasquatch gif, to express his excitement about WFN getting posted is terrible because you don’t like it being on IGN?
Sorry, I should’ve been more clear about that. I’m just excited for WNF, is all. As long as it’s not on Gametrailers, I’m fine. They’re always choppy for some reason.
Gametrailers’ player is a complex behemoth of ad inserts and external link pop ups, with some pretty strange choices for how it buffers and how much it will allow you to buffer at all.
IGN’s is also a little strange but much more manageable. Plus they put their stuff on youtube if you need to watch on a netbook or something several years old that can’t handle the demands of the player. My only nitpick with them is that you can’t choose your desired bitrate. It’s auto detect based on connection speed which doesn’t help so much if your computer itself can’t handle the higher resolution data.
Not sure why many sites have switched over to these more complicated, less functional flash players. The best player in games media is GiantBomb’s. That thing does everything from low res progressive to HD streaming super smooth.
On Skullgirls topic: 55 minutes of Friday remaining in the last time zone for the continent. IGN better get cracking. I need my fix. Noaw.
On the one hand yes, it will probably take slightly longer and be lower quality (since I can’t download the hd version without paying money), on the other hand, ign will mean more views, which means more players, which means more scrubs online to stomp hilariously when the game comes out.
