According to his joystick profile, he frequents Arcade UFO. Kind of perplexed at how a fighting game player wasn’t drooling at the mouth over GGPO netcode working amazingly, hitbox display, ping display and the selectable team size offers a ton of options and just went with the spectator/casual perspective of no movelist, manually adjusting GGPO before a match (y’know cause 3SO was great in an entirely separate menu from online right?), too few characters, etc. and just seemed focused on what was missing.
I think 1up is the only site with an actual player writing reviews and I’m including SRK here. You can tell from reading reviews, what they mentioned or don’t mention how they play fighters and most them seem like the CoD/MMO players writing them.
I would trade the unplayable boss for a “To be continued…” screen, an ingame movelist, training dummy settings and input display in training/replays, anyday. Salthread seems to approve.
I’m more perplexed is at the start of the review he claimed that he has been following the game’s production since it was announced. This was indeed the case then he should already be aware of why things are the way they are. Could have brought up that team plans on patching the game with a movelist and other desired features. I’m going to call BS on that like him frequenting UFO
Don’t people realize by now that reviewers only touch the surface of fighting games and review on that? Very few reviewers actually look that deeply into a fighter before they give their score, which most are full of crap.
I’ve never used a review to buy a game anyhow. If I see something I like, I buy.
Unfortunately you would have had to trade GGPO, button config, or having invites to get the move list/dummy settings/input display, because the people working on the boss weren’t programmers and thus couldn’t have made those features even if they weren’t working on the boss. Double unfortunately, invites was by far the most time-consuming thing…and you aren’t allowed to ship without invites. :^P

Oh yeah also I want to ask a question to Mike. I checked my rank on the leader boards before doing some unranked matches, I was on the 216 spot. After a winstreak of 15, dude ragequits on me. I go to check the leaderboard and my rank got up to 206. Mind explaining if it’s a bug or if unranked matches actually count on the leaderboard?
From use to doing reviews myself on Youtube and such years ago, I learned that the very good reviewers who doesn’t spout utter nonsense is rare while others who spout BS is common. When I check reviews nowadays, I heavily read up on the game then check reviews to see pro’s and con’s but that’s just me.
