Skullgirls GD - It's Showtime on PSN! XBLA 4-11!

Hey guys, I heard the government has this car that runs on water…

Too bad Rarity’s theme is not nearly as good as AJ’s one. Which is masterpiece btw. I’m using it as ringtone since I heard it for the first time.

It’s actually my favorite, but AJ’s is definitely second on the list.

Yeah, it’s called a boat.

Good for you
I’m not really fond of electronic music unfortunately…

Just wanted to point out that translates to a sarcastic tone in english.

I love Techno and piano so makes for a soothing theme to listen to.

RD’s theme sounds straight out of Guilty Gear, so looking forward to hearing the rest of it.

This is why it sounds sarcastic if you say “good for you” or “well, that’s your opinion.”

Tournament sounds good, but unless you’ve got some experience running tourneys I don’t think having a pot is a good idea/necessary. I’d been trying to figure out the details of doing a release weekend tournament for fun but it would probably work better with more people involved. Communication between the organizers and the players will be the biggest key.

I’ve never run one but I would really like to see this happen. Running a tourney online on ps3 is actually easier then you’d think, the chatroom feature is amazing, it made the blazblue tourneys run smooth as hell.

Sorry, my bad =[
I didn’t mean it. Not going to bash another people’s musical (and another) preferences. I really mean that this is good that Sanger is enjoying something that I’m not very fond of. That’s all.
Gotta watch my tongue carefully from now on.

I wouldn’t mind either way, was just pointing that out since I know english is not your first language and you wouldn’t want to offend someone in the future by mistake.

So which is your favorite Skullgirls theme? Mine is Anti-Skullgirl labs.

So far, ASG Labs definitely is my favorite too.

I can’t wait to hear the rest of the soundtrack, though. Jazz is sexy.

I gotta agree with the other folks. I hate people who bash something as “sucking” when they mean “it isn’t something I like.”

That said, the hard part is discerning whether something is actually of low quality, or just something you dislike. That takes a lot of internal dialogue and thinking that people don’t like to do (WHY don’t I like this? What is it offering me? What is the premise or idea that this music is trying to convey?)

The Residents are a great example of a band that people who take the time to think about they will say “I can see what they are doing is of artistic value and high quality but not something I’d care to listen to.”

Didn’t even know the PS3 had that feature. I’m horribly under informed on it’s capabilities. Is there a cap for the number of people you can have in the room? This is all uncharted territory for me.

The brackets shouldn’t be a huge issue since they could be posted here after every round. Single or double elimination? And a cap on entrants? Just a few of the questions that need answering.

It’d be even EASIER with Steamworks integration between PS3 and PC since Steamworks supports group chat with modding capabilities and… stuff.

hint hint.

Sanger thanks for posting that extended ASG lab theme. Nothing like waking up and having my favorite SG music on loop as I start the day.

Ugh. I just went back and watched some of the fights on the WGC stream archives. Hopefully they upload some of the games from Sunday soon where I’m not embarrassing myself as much! Grab into EKG Flatliner three times in a row. gdlk.

Thankfully at least Howtoread was showing off some actual combo ability for a while on Saturday so it wasn’t a total mess!

Done and done. Cheers for the tip!

Yeah, I tend to browse this forum pretty regularly even though I don’t post much. I actually went up to WGC for Marvel vs capcom 3 (got top 8 only though…)
I also managed to get a few of the UK people who came with me into the game, I think once you start playing it you get won over very fast.

GGs to Sairus and anyone else who posts on here

Thanks for the well wishes everyone ^_^. You definitley helped me out of my funk.

When SG comes out I’m totally gonna hold a release weekend tournament at the game shop near me. So if you are in the NY, NJ area just keep an eye on the tourney section when Skullgirls is released.

Give her some time. She is in the messing around part, like a new kid figuring out a new toy. Later she will think if she wants to get good at it or not.

It is funny how patience is needed to introduce new people to fighting games considering how dynamic the matches are. And it is a much needed resource if we want to expand our community since it is always more fun to play with a friend.

Recently, I helped a cousin. Some points are:

-Don’t mix competing with teaching. Think of teaching on how to play a fighting game as a different experience of playing a match. A Karate Master doesn’t teach his students by beating them up.

-Teaching can be fun. The other day I helped a kid to do his first fatality. I got a high-five more satisfying than winning a match with a fatality.

-Training mode with 1p vs. 2p.

-Also easy mode. They will turn up the difficulty if they want to get better.

-At the beggining let them mess around a little with the controls. See what they know and what they can figure out.

-Start with an easy character to learn. Ryu is a good teacher. But play with other characters to entice their curiosity.

-Teach the block basics. High, low and unblockables.

-Teach the universal commands. Throws, tag-ins, command attacks.

-Specials. Show and describe how to do the movement. Go from the easiest (QCF) to the hardest (360s).

-Teach very simple combos

-Go easy mode in teaching matches. Run around them, praise intelligent plays, punish stupid inputs and spamming. Don’t outright kill them.

-Be with them in tutorial mode. Everything is more pleasant with good company.
