Holy shit I said I was gonna stop talking about this but your post made me really mad.
Neither is inherently offensive however when used as an attempt to de-legitimize or ridicule large groups of people (which voodoo/witch doctor depictions in western media are basically 100% of the time) they obviously are. I would not be okay with a character in blackface for the same reason.
Hmmm, Aiki Ju-jutsu would be “NIGGA I AM GONNA BEAT YOUR ASS AND IF I CATCH ONE OF YOUR LIMBS I’LL SNAP THAT SHIT LIKE I SNAP A KIT-KIT BAR” in comparison I guess.
Aikido is more just applying pressure in a way that you can disable but not harm (for example you never apply force AGAINST any attacks, you always force attacks to follow through, there was a lot of emphasis on making the opponent lose their balance and such). Basically you are taught stuff in a way that you CAN’T harm someone and just disable them, as long as you apply the techniques correctly. As far video game application goes, it would be the equivalent of a character that grabs you once, pins you to the floor and leaves you there for 99 seconds until the time runs out.
Mind you, that’s bullshit because I got injured so many times and that’s WITH spending lots of time just training on how to properly land on the floor so we didn’t hit the floor and felt like someone punched all the oxygen out of us (though this is a good way to disable someone as it is). Some techniques just hurt, especially the ones where they strike you in the neck (though they didn’t really go for the neck for obvious reasons). I really wish I still remembered the names of the techniques, would be a lot easier to youtube stuff. I’ll have to go through my old books~
There was some sword training but that’s not really practical… was fun though.
I’m waiting for team CYS comeback to KOF but since they won’t comeback I dried my tears and learnt to have fun using shen/mature/king so I think is not bad at all making the story move and passing some moves only
You realise what you described is EXACTLY what happened in Soulcalibur V? haha. So are you for it or against it? You kinda contradicted yourself there.
ie. Natsu from the same clan as Taki, Killik now a boss, Leixia the daughter of Xianghua, Alexandra children etc.
Him being gone doesn’t make the game better it just makes the game offer less diversity. What does or doesn’t fit is just your opinion. To me a character that “doesn’t fit” just means that they are more unique and may appeal to players who are unhappy with the rest of the cast.
Normally, you can’t chain a special move into another move. However, with a rekka, you can chain a specific special move into a unique special move followup; most Rekka characters have more than one option for the followup, so their offense is deadly because it’s difficult to interrupt and can hit in a variety of ways.
Rekkas refer to the rekka-ken move that fei-long has. It’s typically a series of moves that are executed by inputting multiple motions (usually the same motion) during the course of the move to continue the move (with possibly different followups for the continuation depending on if the move has multiple different valid inputs during the move), where otherwise it would have stopped.
They did it WRONG. 50% of cast didn’t change at all. If it was EXACTLY what I wanted it’ll be more systematic. The thing I’d like to see is passing of time that’ll affect WHOLE universe. Not some random characters while completely ignoring others.
naked lady pope or bad-boxart Fortune? because this weeks whiteboard wednesday is pretty shenanigans overall. and it reminds me, i should one day get around to watching madoka :U one of these days.
Also: WHO IS THAT FIRST CHARACTER? I have NEVER seen her before. she seems so mysterious. and dead.
