I’m so happy Skullgirls is almost done, I was trying to think of ways to show how much I love everyone involved in this project and everyone who encouraged it, supported it and will hype and play this game to no end. Shoutouts to #RealHonestFighters as haunts coined, time to take this new age to the next level. Time to show the best side of the community!
Sincerely, o_8, Mike Z, Ravi, the one netcode dude, all the staff, Chibi, boyshorts lovers all around, real honest fighters, everyone who posted here showing support/love/anger/hate/doubt/whatever…
I honestly think it could go either way with Double or Marie as 8th playable character.
Ravid’s said before that the game is releasing with the “First Arc” of the story mode, implying that the games story could be updated throughout the games life. It’s not necessary then in my eyes to see the “Final Boss” in the initial release of the game. I mean look at BlazBlue’s story mode, was Hazama playable in the first release despite being presented as one of the main villains in the game (not saying the Skullgirls is going to get “Super” versions down the line)?
Obviously we have no idea whether or not Marie or Double are going to end up as the canon “final boss” in the game (Hell, Double could end up being the figure pulling the strings behind the scenes) but I’m just trying to point out that even if the Skullgirl herself does end up being presented as the final boss she doesn’t necessarily need to be playable if the game’s story mode is being planned to be updated along with the release of DLC characters. Infact, going with that line of thinking it may end up being LESS likely that Marie is the 8th assuming that shes being presented as the final boss in the game.
The last character could be a girl’s turd on a stick, and I would play her and love her like the individual that she is, simply because I know the guys are treating everyone with the same amount of love and care.
+1 for Reverge throwing a curveball and the 8th character being somebody we’ve never even heard of.
…My money’s on Marie, though. Her visual design reminds me of Dizzy and Testament*, and at the moment there’s only one committed keepaway character (2 if you count Parasoul’s scary-looking tear game) and no trap characters (I would be interested to see mike’s take on this archetype). With 3 rushdown oriented characters and 2 “big damage” types, it seems like another long range specialist would balance out the initial roster pretty well.
*Also Roll, I guess? Maybe her dash is unique because she rides a vacuum. Dat maid swagga. >_>
The attract mode video indicates, to me, that #8 is Marie. She’s shown prominently twice in that thing and it hardly makes much sense to ship the game without the girl in the attract mode referred to as the Skullgirl.
Marie has a poster too, but it didn’t appear in the attract mode trailer…
I’m seriously leaning towards Double, but who knows? The game may just surprise me.
and… IIRC aren’t the DLC characters going to get story modes too? If one villain doesn’t make it then I expect that the other will also find a place in the story.
aaaaa this is going to eat me up all day tomorrow I know, but at least I’ll be able to rest easy on the weekend ;v ;
…oh my god oh my god… I’m having like Hype attacks over here. my stomach is like caving in because of all the hype. I dont care how bad my days are, EVERYTIME I come in this thread, it just becomes the best day ever. Yall think im just sayin stuff too, but im dead ass serious. I was retarded hype from what Ravi said, and THEN I find out that JOHN MOTHAFUCKIN D wants to get into Skullgirls. I’m so happy right now. JOHN D ROCKEFELLER IS BACK.
No kidding. If Mike doesn’t like REAL! SOVIET DAMAGE! then I wonder what he’ll say if we’ll start to call him Mike “I had sex with your father” Zaimont
or even better: Mike “He had sex with my father but I don’t mind it” Zaimont
Hell. Is this too creepy? Or is it just creepy enough for SG’s awesome GD thread? =]
