Just rewatched that part, holy shit. That’s an incredible series of blocks, and then you know exactly when to backdash out to safety. Really nice stuff. Your Peacock in general is really good. My favorite part was game 1 of loser’s finals where you were just like “look at all these fucks I give!”
Stream of consciousness blurb watching those videos:
Second game of Winner’s finals was the first time I’ve seen that Fortune combo.
That’s some disgusting shit, Alex.
Sexual gratification achieved.
I’d love to see these video (And the rest of top 8) on Front Page, but definitely at least Canopy Kingdom.
At 12:25ish, did you talk to him after the match about the Vial cancel to super? Was that an intentional bait or on the fly? It was clever, I was impressed.
These are pretty damn entertaining.
13:22 is Harry Potter and the chamber of instant overheads. Holy shit I didn’t know you could cancel Val’s backdash that quickly. Does one just, double tap dash really quickly? Is there a trick to that?
IMHO Cerebella wins vs Peacock, and considering your use for Miss Fortune if that guy had an inkling more match up experience he would have been ten times harder to beat.
I can also see why I’m so shit with Peacock, I refuse to actually move forward. That and Double is still horribly snooze worthy to play against as an assist and on point.
That triple AA set up with Peacock is something I’m stealing for sure though, haha.
Thing is I’m not used to playing in a team in general. In retrospect, I could’ve used any blocks to alpha counter into a full Ms. Fortune combo but I just don’t have that in my repertoire. That was the first time playing that team not online.
DHCs, refilling health, alpha counters… all of these are advantages to using a team. I’m just not used to using a team just yet.
Fortune can deal damage, but most of her combos scale to a large extent. In 1.00 ratio it is much more noticeable but having access to an assist (especially a mini-hidden missile like Peacock’s H item drop) helps with Fortune’s already almost overwhelming pressure. It’s a large tradeoff post-patch, but an almost obvious advantage right now.
I had already played him in casuals as solo and had the wonderful opportunity to be stuck in a blockstring in the corner forever, and then caught in a double poison DHC combo to death. Solo Fortune can deal with SOME pressure, but an invincible unbeatable assist that WILL put you into blockstun or hitstun before it’s vulnerable while in the corner without a teleport is a pretty dismal situation.
edit: Doesn’t help that Peacock herself has issues against rushdown. I’m still in shock watching 1:30-1:40 of winner’s finals and still wonder how I managed to pull that off with her. Rushdown/HB is the worst possible scenario for Peacock. Hell, even Egret Charge you can item drop hold then fake teleport to go under and release item to make it safe. But Hornet Bomber? All I’ve found against it is jump back HK xx air dash back when it’s being called will make Avery hit Double out of the latter half. But from up close? Not a damn thing.
There would be a problem having top 8 in a tournament with 7 people lmao
It’s sad that the tournament had such a small turnout, considering I offered $50 to add to the pot. Of which I made $10 back
I’m sure the Val poison cancel happened because of a momentary lapse of memory. He must have forgotten that the way he got the hit confirm involved Double hitting, so she can’t be called for the rest of the combo. His muscle memory must have kicked in so he must have tried s.HK xx Poison + assist, but noticing the assist didn’t come out, the safest way to save Val in that scenario is daggers into cats. I tried to input something with invincibility to bypass daggers but instead got daggers to the face lol
The instant overhead thing, can’t say for sure. But if it’s anything like Peacock’s instant overheads, it involves jumping, IAD and immediately buffering a j.LK. The momentum from the air dash is cancelled and j.LK forces the descent. I haven’t put any time on Valentine so that’s just me assuming. I will say that (for those of you who did not notice why I had to do a button check) he does set dash to a button, so perhaps pianoing the button for dash then LK after jumping makes the cancel faster.
Awesome videos! Tells me that my Fortune doesn’t have nearly enough Fiber in her diet. Now I want to play SG again even in lag, though fuck Filia I’m leaving her alone for the time being.
It would seem that people still dont know lk bomber is one of the most retarded things in sg… Glad ive had it on my team for the last 2 months… Also… Lk bomber wasnt nerfed the way hk bomber was… The double cheese is here to stay for the foreseeable future, just a little less braindead.
Masta CJ? More like Masta Free-J. Good shit (even though you lost D: ). Fuck that mindless neutral game strategy. Patch gonna force ppl to actually play neutral instead of just mash on m/h hornet bomber.
