Double has some sick resets that come straight with her non-otg corner carrying easy bnb. He neutral game can be a bit wonky without an assist, but with Egret charge, or a nice lockdown assist she is very good on point. I’ve tried to move away as much as possible from hornet bomber at the end of blockstrings or in neutral because of the risk of punishment. Instead I use dash-jump blocking with j.HK and j.HP, or sometimes j.LK to get control, then use an assist for a mixup and then do one of 5+ resets, or corner carry then dhc into an otg combo from cerebella or parasoul.
Painwheel/Parasoul is pretty strong, I use napalm shot for the keepaway option + lockdown.
i really like the corner crossup using cerecopter on point. will give that one a try. you can easily add some extra damage to your cerebella BnB as well using a technique i posted a while back in the bella thread that i dont see anybody using. its pretty easy once you get the timing down as well.
i just finished my session testing out lock n load H as an assist, and i definately think it is being slept on atm what with the amazing assortment of great assists that bella has.
i was using it online (i know) and it basically got to the point where i had people locked in the corner with fortune backed by the assist, completely scared to press any buttons at all, there were even a few occasions against a filia player who would cross up the assist, and even when she was making hits behind her (hairball) the assist had autocorrected and just ploughed into the back of her giving me a free combo. a couple of matches i didnt even need to switch fortune out and just let the opp get close and mash the assist.
i think one advantage this has over other invincible assists (updo, hornet bomber, NP) as well as the fact that lock n load H will also beat all of these, is that it doesnt get to its active frames for a while after entering, making me wonder if it would be viable to call assist at last second > opp gets ready to block inevitable assist battery > so you just throw them during the startup of the move.
something else i really wanna test is whether suppose they tech the throw attempt, your assist is already out and by now into its active frames and moving forwards, will they land right in the assists active frames, meaning they have to block and now you have advantage again after the throw tech?
also i forgot how much range the move has too. an attack that goes 3/4 screen with 2 hits of armour as an assist? fuck yes please!
i can forsee im gonna be running the assist a fair bit now just to find out more utility for it. people have gotten used to seeing cerecopter all the time and i think it was a bit of a shock to the people i played tonight.
It sounds like it has potential, I dunno if I’d take it over cerecopter myself. On point it’s good for challenging those insane air moves at about medium jump height, so it should be viable as an anti air assist as well as what you’re talking about.
I might try it out with painwheel, since having long active frames to protect her while she charges her spikes seems like a good trait in my head.
for sure im not expecting it to replace cerecopter either. i would probably say it would be her best GTFO assist though since cerecopter has a lot of startup frames to it. im excited to try more games with it tonight. im thinking you could use it for almost free ins as well if you time your point characters run to be covered by the hitbox of it.
So do I go to Summer Jam to promote Skullgirls there (where it will likely get on stream as it is a main game) or do I try and get to MLG Raleigh to possibly see about commentating and promoting the game there instead?
Yooooooo… I JUST moved from Raleigh. Seriously. A major reason for me deciding to move (I could have stayed) was no SG scene. Everyone gave up on the game two weeks in, despite my (social anxiety restricted) attempts.
Anyway, I suggest going to Summer Jam if they are the only ones with streams of it (if you are confident in your skillz). Sure, you could talk it up, but there I think showing is the best way to reach the most hearts.
I bought Skullgirls at launch, but I didn’t really play it much at first. However, I’ve recently decided I want to invest my time into it, because quite simply,. I think it’s awesome.
I just wanted to ask how solo characters stack up to teams of 2 or 3? Are people mostly playing teams? I’ve only been learning Cerebella so far.
Depends on that said solo character, how skilled you are with that said character, and if you know the matchups
Solo has the advantage of doing the bigger damage on hit-confirm and has the most amount of health dedicated to 1 character, but the trade-off is that you can’t recover any lost health (although you got snapbacks to prevent them from recovering health and can punish any raw tag in for free combo), no assist character to help out for mixups/setups, and no dhc possibilities.
However, Solo ratio looks a bit better post-patch which includes higher damage to assist characters from 106% to 120%, assists purple bounces go into green bounces (means you can tech off their hard knockdowns much easier), and other miscellaneous changes that decreases the possibilities/performance that the 2/3 ratios could perform.
In short: All ratio are viable, but the meta game currently anyway is 2 ratio with some 3 ratio. Rarely any solo ratio nowadays (Mike Z uses solo Filia and wrecks shop so its still a viable choice). Since you say Solo Bella, you can deal FAT damage with her,but you need to be somewhat knowledgable on her match ups to be effective
Solo characters are worse than teams, but not by an insurmountable amount. Basically you give up a lot of options in order to do more damage and have more life. That’s a bad deal, but not a terrible one. You could do very well with a solo character, and in fact going solo may well be the best option for a beginner. Once you’re comfortable with Bella you can add a second character, and then a third one after that if you want.
To anyone that lurks here from the WNF SG crew; we will be now be doing our thang on Thursdays! Milkcow I know you’re out there somewhere, not sure who else is around, but spreading the word best I can. If you are in SoCal or a Runback attendee, come say hi .
