Skullgirls Gameplay Discussion Thanks For Playing

Are assist throws techable?

If they are techable when they are on point, they are techable when they are an assist.

Wish I could play around with that in training mode.

You know you can control the training dummy with 2P, right?

^^

yea its still no substitute for having recording options etc though. holding directions using your toe is hard.

so if we want to use an extremely defensive team we already know that using double and parasoul as a combo is pretty good on a 3 team… but what if we want our 1st character to be an offensive juggernaut?

what “generic” offensive assists would you guys use and why?

i

i mentioned this in the other thread a few days back, but i faced a rushdown filia who was backed by parasoul using tear shot (the charge back forwards one) it was either the light or the heavy version, i dont think it really matters, but basically i had filia in my face airdashing left and right and crossing me up off over, with parasoul then popping in with her shot, and then popping offscreen again so the tear was there for good, since hitting filia doesnt make the tear disappear. As long as the tear was perched right above my head i couldnt even punish any of filias unsafe moves. multiple times i actually went for a punish, only for the tear to explode, giving enough hitstun for filia to recover from whatever move id just hit her with, and then dash in and start a combo from the exploded tear!

trying to deal with this stuff while in a corner was basically impossible for my solo character, with filias multi hitting moves negating any pushblock attempts i made. im honestly surprised i havent seen anybody talking about it on these threads, since it is pretty close to impossible to punish parasoul with filia breathing down your neck, and then not even being able to punish anything unsafe filia does because the damn tear will explode and put you back where you started.

wow… i hadnt thought of teardrop as good but now that you mention it… i can REALLY see how that could be rather bad to deal with with filia running it. basically tearshot goes over many characters heads when they duck… but ducking against an airdashing filia isnt the greatest option so tearshot comes out and puts you in blockstun, then filia gets to left right you, if you block successfully, and try to punish you get exploded on, if not, filia can call another tearshot to explode the first one and do the same shit all over again… am i getting that right? sounds pretty insane.

Boxcar george? It’s really fast, has a decent amount of hit stun too, and you have to respond to it immediately.

or maybe… Napalm Shot Heavy or Heavy Egret (Bike) for obvious reasons but it’s not really worth it to lose Napalm Pillar.

finally… Valentine’s Crouching Medium Kick (Kakushi Caliper) because it’s really dirty and you can create really hard to block shit with it.

Filia’s Hairball seems to be pretty good for the offensive, too. It has decent range and some lock down. Good for applying pressure.

What’s the input to call out an assist and get a special attack at the same time? I remember I figured it out early on but never used it and now totally forgot when I need lol.

Yeah, I see you now on gdo… Saw dios x using it with filia, had some interesting stuff. I imagine bcg would be about the same, only faster which could make it better in certain situations and worse in others.

Best characters? Fortune and Painwheel, easily.

Best assist… doubles butt, easily.

Worst character IMO is Valentine followed by Peacock.

No on Painwheel being the best.

I think people are dismissing Cerebella. I’d put her above Peacock for sure.

Really? Why wouldn’t painwheel be top? She has such awesome pressure, pokes, high damage, great resets, great mobility, she’s really really scary and way more flexible than most of the cast.

Cerebella is one of the better ones IMO. I’m sure she has some bad matches being a grappler but she forces situations really well and can do pretty high damage for low execution / effort. Plus cerecopter is probably top 5 assists.

Yeah George’s Day Out is crazy good, and to be honest, it’s a lot better than Boxcar George, what you gain from the car is not worth what you lose from GDO. I think it does a little more damage and it’s faster, but you control the space for way less, and the way Peacock throws our GDO is better than how she throws out the boxcar if you are going for cross ups.

I don’t know how Double’s Butt (Hornet Bomber) is better than Napalm Pillar, I’m just not seeing it, unless you are playing Peacock on point, why wouldn’t you want Napalm Pillar.

And lol at Valentine being one of the worst characters, her damage output is among the best in the entire cast, easily in the top half, possibly second next to Cerebella. She has a ton of ways to open you up (probably the easiest character to get in with, perhaps with the exception of Parasoul) ., dare I say some of the best aerial moves in the game and she can do an insane amount of damage after a regular grab outside of the corner, probably the most out of the entire cast. She has some of the best DHC options, a very good counter. She can use Kakushi Caliper as an assist, which I still think is very very underrated. I would say the three characters that have the most going for them, most verstile, etc. in no order are Parasoul, Valentine and Cerebella. No one has the least going for them, but if I had to pick some it’d be Peacock because it feels like she’s already hit a ceiling in the advancement of new technology and perhaps Double but that’s because people are using her as an assist so people don’t know how to use her yet/

after having gotten my ass kicked over and over and over by a cerebella running bomber… i cant think how it cant be the best assist in the game. its basically a fullscreen invulnerable beam assist that anti airs and locks down… it literally does EVERYTHING. god help you if you happen to get cornered by a character thats spamming that assist.

pillar at least you can bait it and it doesnt lockdown in the corner and and it doesnt function as a beam assist allowing runners to follow behind it on block. that ducking hole its got is small as hell and when your just outside of that range it will block twice and easily allows cere and i’d imagine any other character with a run to follow behind it.

painwheel top? maybe. but good luck trying to reset cerebella with double assist… they just mash that super and if painwheel tried a flight left/right… gg. if painwheel baits it by jumping back it is still safe cause of catellites activation. and if you drop your combo… god help you.

im not understanding cere just yet. she seems waay to cheap but my playtime outside of t-mode is limited unfortunately so yeah.

Cerebella is just monsterous, stupid question, but I’m assuming you can’t tech command grabs in this game? I think it’s weird that command grabs combo in this game, I don’t get that?

They combo from stagger which scales the damage pretty bad.
