Skullgirls Easter Eggs Thread: Giant Moai Head Inside

The “Stop mashing” line is something Mike said he wanted to add somewhere down line like if you get counter hit a lot in a short amount of time.

No it isn’t, it’s Celtry from Durarara!!!

Mike_Z’s art contribution lol

It’s one of Ms. Fortune’s win quotes, she says “You’re tearing me apart!”

I like my way.

Edit: Well, she has the blue streak on both sides… so maybe you’re right. But always in my heart.

Parasoul palette 9 is a reference to Kneesocks from the anime Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

Pretty sure Cerebella palette 3 is a reference to Harley Quinn from Batman

Peacock palette 9 is also a reference to Cirno from the Touhou games/series I think?

Cirno from Touhou?

Marie when transforming into her 2nd form might say “I can’t control it!”. Reference to Phoenix to Dark Phoenix in MvC3.

She says “I smell bread” which is a reference to MAS*H of all things.

Oh, I know it.

Peacock c.LK is the Kuribo boot from Mario 3 and she sometimes says “Here we go!” while mimicking Mario’s voice.
Her HK is the classic Peanuts football whiff and she says "Good grief!"
During j.HP she says “Say your prayers” while mimicking Elmer Fudd.

Cerebella’s ‘wtf cat’ is due to Mike_Z.

Basically one of the contracted clean up animators sent back their work with Cerebella all cleaned up but had left that cat in the corner, probably forgetting to erase it out. Supposedly there’s a 0.05% chance that the cat will randomly come out during any of Cerebella’s attacks. The hilarious part is that they gave it an actual sound bite AND colored it lol

I’m home for the moment so I can check… It’s Streets of New Meridian.

I think Parasoul’s cMK looks like Ryu/Ken/Akuma’s cMK from SFIII.

Yes it is. They have it in every game since – I recognized it because I use Ken in SFxT and he has that same kick (one of his best normals.)

It’s “George’s Day Out” not off, and that show was too shitty and obscure to be referenced IMO.

oh I see.

Guess it must be something else.

Is it me, or does the first scene in Ms. Fortune’s story mode reference the US Darkstalkers cartoon?

Since this is a reference thread I thought I compile stuff from other thread of references that should belong here and lets get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Here’s stuff off my head

Overall game theme is throwback to Films obivously

Ms Fortune
Feral Edge - Reference to Blazblue Ragna’s Berial Edge
Furserker Barrage - Reference to Wolverine’s Berserker Barrage
"here body body body" - Puns obviously referencing to "here kitty kitty kitty kity"
OMNOMNOMNOM - don’t tell me you don’t get this

Peacock
Argus Agony - Reference to Megaman X cyber-peacock
Generic items like elephant, piano, fridge - part of her toon theme

Double
Bandwagon Rushdown - Reference to the cartoon series “The Perils of Penelope Pitstop” characters The Ant Hill Mob which 7 of them rides in a small car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Perils_of_Penelope_Pitstop)

Getting “six blowjobs” whenever you do a happy birthday or a really long combo.

Six blowjobs you ask? Because in Japanese, that reads as “roku fera” or Rockefeller.

Also, I head that it’s also supposedly a shout out to the Dan Forden saying “Toasty!” in MK.

Stay tore.

Painwheel’s Buer Drive is most likely named after this guy, while her parasites are named after the Gáe Bolga spear from Irish mythology (Appropriate, since the name means “belly spear” and she shoots big spikes out of parts of her body).

Her hatred install is, of course, a reference to Sol Badguy’s Dragon Install.

It was confirmed as a reference in an interview.

“Impossible to gauge” is a possible reference to FFXI, what Notorious Monsters (boss mobs) are labeled as when you check their toughness.
