Skull Girls Story Discussion Thread: ALERT! SPOILERS INBOUND!

I’ll admit I was a huge baby and cried like a sissy at some stories. BAWWWW

I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved Peacock’s.
I’m just gonna let out and gush about it here. Massive spoilers and all that.

So hers started off with some technobabble, which is always fun. I’m kind of interested in what the hell the technobabble actually means x: Soul contamination? Theonite? what? It’s dumb but I love random universe stuff like this. Sue me.

The pink haired lady’s name is Hive, which makes me wonder at her abilities, but she didn’t do anything… oh well. Overall it starts out kind of cool and funny, although that moment in her dream with the eye-gouging really stuck to me. No, seriously. I actually dreamed it last night. Not a fun way to wake up. x__x Poor girl.

The intermediate fights are all really ambiguous storywise, unfortunately… I assume that like everyone else, she was just randomly beating up people who got in her way. But then Valentine has to go and be a huge bitch and sic the Skullgirl on Lab 8 and OH MY GOD PEACOCK IS CRYING? what?! I guess she had a soft spot for Dr. Avian. But then again, I think anyone would be grateful to someone who saved your life and gave you awesome super powers to boot

So she goes on a roaring rampage of revenge, though she seems to be distraught when she gets a good look at Marie. Then a Double battle where Peacock spouted some of the most hilarious opening/winquotes I’ve heard from her. Good stuff. Goes to church, gets dissed by Valentine, offs Valentine. And oh boy she’s going into the basement!

Dun dun dun, It’s Marie! Suddenly, backstory. Marie became the Skullgirl in order to avenge Patricia… who was turned into the Anti-skullgirl weapon Peacock. Oh man, do I love some dramatic irony. Peacock’s lines are great here: “Of course I’m worried about you, because I’m going to kill you!” Perfect. One frustrating boss battle later, Peacock goes into badass mode… starts by fuckin’ lasering the skull heart in style! …and then making me CRY SISSY TEARS talking to Marie.

And then she became Batman and killed the entire mafia in one night. Tell me that’s not fucking awesome.

I knew there was a reason I liked Peacock. She seems to be a whoooole lot less villainous than I was making her out to be before! Oops. But it’s a good thing in my opinion. Seriously, she needs like… her own spinoff or something. Fantastic FANTASTIC character.

Overall… I was really surprised at how mafia-centric the stories were. Pretty much the only one not really involved with them in some way is… Painwheel? Marie in particular took me by surprise. Anyway! I am seriously looking forward to more.

It is always great when the character goes beyond our hype. After her story I also ended loving her more.

I call bogos on Parasoul’s ending.

What Umbrella too close but the skullheart is within grabbing range? Just PUSH UMBRELLA AWAY YOU ARE LIKE TWICE AS BIG AS HER.
THEN shoot the skullheart.

I find holes in this plot.

I just beat doubles story… FIrst I was like: Well, that picture with them all inside double isn’t sexual in the least.

And then the part after happened… and I got so much BB vibes from it… I’m confused. Was that all a game? I know Double, Aeon, and Venus are connected as the trilogy, so did double escape from whereever the other 2 are, and is trying to release them too? And who is mother? Is it Parsoul’s mom?

SO MANY QUESTIONS BRAIN WILL EXPLODE!!!

Really, the only thing Peacock’s story is missing is her busting through a drum and saying “Th-The E-Th-The E-Th-The E-That’s All Folks!” (seriously, it’s hard to put Porky Pig’s stuttering into text form) at the end what with being a living cartoon character and all.

THEORY: All of these timelines exist. The “true” story is where they all fall into each other and we have multiple Skullgirls running around at the same time.

Not all of them were bad endings, just… none of them were entirely happy?
Ms. Fortune’s comes closest imo. It was an “AND THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES” sort of ending

And if it’s a little self-serving or corrupt, you’re the next Skullgirl?

Also, I think the story is a bit like 999: 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors. Each of the endings happened and exist in parallel universes. However, there is one true ending that ties all the others together in one big ending.
