Skull Girls Story Discussion Thread: ALERT! SPOILERS INBOUND!

No, not Samson… the guy who chopped off Ms. Fortune’s head in the beginning of her storymode! What was his name again? Not Lorrenzo the other guy, with the hitting on Minette and the machete and the cutting

I don’t remember Samson chopping any heads, at least… And personally I’m reminded more of Axe Cop, but… that’s neither here nor there.

Ricardo.

Fuuuu I totally mixed up those names badly. Riccardo’s the dude that was grabass with Filia, the other guy I was talking about was Lawrence. THAT’S THE GUY! YEAH!

…I’ve kind of worn out my joke now.

In any case I think those opening scenes are supposed to have a little willing suspension of disbelief to them, but it’s funnier to assume Riccardo is too dense to recognize Filia and Lawrence chops heads off at the slightest provocation.

Well, at least those two are the only real stretches I know of or can think of. Actually Filia’s isn’t so unbelievable if we just assume she had yet to meet the guy prior to losing her memory…

I don’t think Filia and Riccardo were ever introduced to each other. He probably saw her before, but it must have been back when she had blonde hair and dark eyes.

Just doodling Myrine here and had an idea.

Pointy teeth, pointy ears. Possibly some sort of Gigan history going on with Avian?

It’s probably nothing, but hey, this thread hasn’t seen much new speculation in a while

Well, it is possible that pointy years and teeth are just a common trait in the Skullgirls world; not unlike blondes and brunnetes.

On the other hand all of our 100% confirmed humans have regular ears and our… two, I think confirmed Gigan-bred characters both have pointy ears.

Yeah, I think its more of the art style than them being related, although it wouldn’t surprise me if they were siblings; one making their path to stop the Skullgirl, while the other turns her back on the matter and focus on Money & Power with her new group.

They don’t have to be related. The theory is that the good Doc is a half-gigan like prison boob over there.

Late, I know… but wth all the negativity floating around here. Let me just say that I for one, was ecstatic to see the cat get squashed.

I was doodling one of the background characters in New Meridian and was noticing some stuff. Not really story mode discussion, but this is the closest thread.

This is the guy I was drawing:

Fun facts about anglerfsh: Males are tiny compared to females and males don’t have lanterns. This guy is fairly huge and has a lantern. He might dress like a guy, but how sure of that gender are we? ;D

Double is everywhere! She’s making copies of people in New Meridian!

The swordfish guy that stands beside the anglerfish dude(tte) is also sort of doubled up in the backdrop, but his clothes’ colours are tweaked a bit. You can see him behind the car on the right in the far background. (not shown)

I never actually realized that it was Vitale talking to Lorenzo in the Medici Towers stage. Don’t know how I hadn’t spotted that! Those stumpy legs of his are hilarious.

As I said, not a whole lot of story speculation, but vaguely fun little observations.

So I went through a few story modes again to refresh my memory and try to find stuff about Black Dahlia. One thing I noted was that her involvement in the deaths of Fortune’s friends was left ambiguous. It was phrased something like ‘her goons showed up…next thing I knew I woke up chopped up at the bottom of the ocean’. So I can hold out hope that she’s just grossly misunderstood like Val. Ignore the big honking cannon attached to her shoulder, she’s innocent I tell ya!

I kinda like the idea of her being connected to doctor avian too.

Yeah I think judging by the deadness this thread saw, we’ve exhausted many of our story leads. They are pretty short, after all. Fortunately that new DLC character will have a little more story for us to chew on :>

Anyway–to speculation! As for the Avian-Scythana thing, I dunno… that seems like a bit of a stretch to assume he’s part Gigan just because of a couple features. There are other human-shaped races after all, the Dagonians and the felines and possibly more we don’t know of yet.

Also, Dr. Avian is part of ASG Labs, which could have something to do with his appearance? IDK, Black Dahlia has pointed ears as well and it seems hinted she has a history with the Labs. Avian doesn’t exactly seem like one of their products, but hey. It is a mad science laboratory. It’s possible the doctors may do a little experimentation on themselves? Heck, look at Brain Drain… People ain’t born that way.

Oh, and one more thing. Looking at that last pic in the previous post, I wonder about that guy on the left.

You know, this guy. If you look at his head, it looks grey, like it’s made of metal…

I dunno about you, but it doesn’t seem like much of a stretch to assume that this guy (whoever he is) is yet another Medici fighter. (Who got killed with extreme prejudice in Peacock’s ending? haha!) Possibly a cyborg? Or a robot? Seeing as how they have Black Dahlia on their side, it’s not improbable. Well Mr. Ridiculously-Tall-Maybe-A-Robot-Guy, I hope to see more of you.

Haha, yep, the Gian/Avian thing is reeeally stretching, but I figured I’d post any little thing I spotted since this thread is quite dead (which is understandable as you’ve said given how much we’ve scoured the existing material at this point  )

Ooh, I’ve been trying to figure out whose that random fish head in Peacock’s ending belonged to! Vitale’s body guard or whatever he is seems like a good bet!

Avian’s hairline accounts for horns perfectly. Maybe he just had one removed.

I’d say don’t go too crazy with the fringe theories, they tend to bite oneself in the ass later P: Though Avian does have really weird hair in general. It’s like… a square receding hairline, except for one rebellious lock of hair that just sticks straight up out of his forehead

Adding a little more meat to an otherwise useless post: I will flip my lid if Black Dahlia ends up having a Trans-Atlantic accent. You know, the classy sort-of-British-sort-of-American posh accent you used to hear in older films all the time? Like… think Katharine Hepburn or Bette Davis, maybe? But eviler. I think she ought to sound as classy as she looks.

IDK, if not her then at least some SG character should talk like that. It just feels like it’d fit the “old Hollywood” theme well. But I couldn’t say I have any other nominees.

Hey i got i theory the thing about Vitale bieng old in the picture. That could be Vitale. Ms Forutne stole the live gem giving her the power of being alive after being mutulated by the mafia. I think the Gem has keep Vitale and the whole Mafia alive for a good time but when Ms.Fortune stole it they went on a panic and try to get it back. Thas what i think

That’s a interesting idea, they could have been using it as a sort of fountain of youth.

It’s not like we are betting anything on em lol, just throwing out ideas. It’s not like it probably matters what Avian is since he dies in every story line that he appears in.

You know, that does seem possible. It was never specified if the Life Gem only ever worked on one person at a time, after all. I expect when somebody (Ms. Fortune) eats it they get it all to themselves, but when it’s just lying out it could possibly be used by multiple people? I was wondering about that suspiciously Vitale-like old guy too.

You know, I wonder if losing the Life Gem means you start aging faster to catch up. The story summary did say that Lorenzo vanished, and in Peacock’s ending at least he’s looking pretty ancient. Maybe he used to look like one of those portraits on the wall? idk.

Yeah, it’s cool. Some people that are into Skullgirls have been really weirdly adamant about their fan-theories though @- @ I gotta be sure. Although funny enough SRK seems to be one of the most reasonable and down to earth places of story discussion

and lmao, that last thing… This just popped into my head. People like to compare SG to Madoka Magica right? I see it all the time and it’s got a few parallels with SG. So if that’s the case, doomed in every timeline, does that make Dr. Avian Madoka?? hahahaha jesus

Yar, that’s what I figured too up above. The picture on the wall is waaay to similar to Vitale to not be him, despite the age.

And y’know, the word Vitale meaning Life ;D

Also, related fun tidbit of history: Lorenzo de’ Medici was the ruler of Florence during the Italian Renaissance.

Considering the photo the Canopy Kingdom News showed of Lorenzo, I would imagine taking away the Life Gem will give the user a very rapid decent into old age, otherwise they would have shown something a little more recent looking methinks.

I’ve been wondering why they put those veins in Vitale’s one visible eye in all his art. Maybe that’s a sign of his body reacting to Gem withdrawal? Lorenzo’s eyes are never shown at all.

And haha, I’m going to assume you’re talking about the Facebook page. I had to just cut that place loose. The endless arguments over peoples’ fan theories were wrecking my head!

Also, one final thing I noticed that’s fairly obvious and not really story related:

Hearts also has heart shaped facial hair and… that magic sprout of hair on his head.
I’m thinking that the rest of the troupe are supposed to represent King (Ring Master), Queen (purple one at the back), Jack (Talisen) and Joker (Clown), but that leaves out poor Feng. Maybe she’s the rule sheet in a standard deck? XD
