Just because the writers get away with it doesn’t mean it’s good writing. A revival has to really mean something for it to happen at all, not just a “oh hey our money maker is back everyone can stop panicking and buy the next book” thing.
I was not defending it, was using it as an example, but the point was you can work around it if you have enough creativity (without abusing it of course).
I figured out why Bella is sad in her ending.
Spoiler
Vitale said his penis was off-limits until the next story arc.
Thanks for misconstruing what I’ve said.
All I said was I hope they stick to the story they want and not give in to fan demand. They can write their own stories, this is Alex’s.
Actually, I wasn’t talking about you at all, I agree 100% it’s their game and their plot. I just don’t see why there’s a sudden rise of interest to axe someone.
Totally fine with the death of a character if it comes to that, as long as they are available in sequels, that’s the main thing.
[details=Spoiler]You have to pay $5 for the next story arc.
By this logic Vitale is a cheap prostitute.[/details]
I was disappointed with story mode. It told me very little about the characters and the story itself had little substance. It’s a fighting game so I’m not as bothered with it.
For Cerebella ending, I don’t understand how anyone can view Cerebella as the bad guy. Fortune’s family was a notorious gang of thieves. Thieves who got chopped up trying to steal from the mob. Fortune was in on this hit so…yea.
I’d pay 5 bucks for more story. Story means a lot to me. A LOT. **A LOT. **I partially bought BBCS1 because I wanted to know what happened next in the story.
I dunno, Cerebella crushing M. Fortune to death isn’t something I would call ‘little substance’.
The story mode gave me an added dimension to the characters that simply was not there before. I’m quite grateful for it.
Personally, I got nothing out of it. I barely know damn thing about Fortune so why should I care that she was crushed into a diamond? There wasn’t enough for me to be emotionally invested.
Well, that’s probably why they want to make a big long in depth story, so that you can have more time and reason to get to know everyone. Hopefully whenever it rolls around, it’ll make the current little ones stronger by virtue of us knowing more (caring more?) about the characters
I was wondering, maybe they’re going to make a “true story” path like in blazblue where you control more than one character and get the cannon ending? Would be interesting.
Well to me Peacock’s ending is the cannon one :P.
Immortal Minette you say?
Cerebella ending needs to be canon now.
It’d be cool if the life gem she was crushed into became a pokeball of sorts. Cracking it or breaking it would let Fortune escape.
Okay. Just got back from my cousin beating Marie on sleepwalk 11 times using one button because colors.
I’m really sad because storymode now has only arcade endings. I’m really are =[
I’m not good player actually so huge part of my FG interest belongs to characters and stories (or lack thereof >_>). World of SG was big lure to me. Now when I know that real storymode didn’t make the cut I’m really disappointed. Especially because of me being active lurker I know about what stuff is still waiting behind the curtain. Now I want to see it even more. That’s for one. Second reason is me being tired of non-canon-what-if-time-loop fighting games shit. I want for once hear a story. Whole solid logical story having facts in it which actually make sense for ALL characters, not protagonist. I had my hopes pretty high with SG and it let me down in that department to put it bluntly. Because I know story is ready and it is somewhat complete - but I didn’t get it after buying the game. And now when I reading about Autumn planing to sell it - I’m shocked and afraid.
Shocked - because there’s still a chance for me to experience this story I crave. That one I didn’t find after playing the game. I got my hope back. And afraid - because those plans now in danger because money… O_O
I’ll pay. I want to pay you. I want you to have money to tell me that story I desire. Just do it. Do it at any cost. I know SG is super-good FG in the mechanic part but DAMN! SG isn’t complete without the STORY of this characters living in this universe. I refuse to leave it at that. I want to get FULL experience. Mike Z is made his game of dream - top-players are praising gameplay and whatnot. But I want to see Alex Ahad’s dream come to fruition too. I want to see his beautiful horrible world in all its astounding glory. I refuse to stop now. Make it happen RL.
Make it happen.
just saying i would buy the Story DLC, hell i’ll buy EVERY DLC including costumes (if you guys plan on making them) and i dont normally buy DLC costumes.
I just hope there is good writing (and a good amount of it, to make a full meal). That is the least that it can have.
As for things that I like: alternative paths and many kinds of multiple endings (happy, sad, tragic, horror, fun, WTF). If there is a final game, I hope for that, so each person can take his favorite.
Ah, and I am a sucker for bad endings:

Well that’s fair. Just be aware that there is demand for the VA on our end even if it turns out to not be economically feasible.
Having finally beaten all the Story Modes I gotta say I’m quite impressed. I thought all of them, even if non totally canon plot wise, did a good job setting up character personalities and relationships (which I assume are cannon). I WOULD VERY MUCH be interested in the full, canon story mode. If you are planning something of the sort, does that mean you won’t be making these “What If” story modes for DLC characters and saving it all for the canon mode or would you plans allow for both?
I’d also add that there doesn’t feel like there is enough reward for doing the story modes. Yes you get colors and of course learn about the characters. However, I was expecting story art and an art viewer to show up in the Extras tab upon each character’s story mode completion. A physical record that you actually did something and can review later at your leisure. Casuals are always about looking for rewards and such. I think overall the game is lacking in some of those casual friendly trinkets. Also, a character directory for each of the important characters you encountered in Story Mode would be really useful to fill out the lore. Just a picture of the character and a short bio, as seen on the main website, should do. Hopefully that is something that is not labor intensive to implement.
Also, I kind of have another question stemming mostly from the fact that I very much want to see this entire story play out (to say nothing of additional features & characters). When you say “assuming our publishers let us”, are you in a situation where as long as the game doesn’t mega-bomb you should be good to continue rolling out support & content for a while (at least a year) or in a situation where the game has do do super well for long term viability? I’ll be honest in that all this “if our publisher let’s us” talk, while honest, is spooking me. Granted, from what I can tell, reception seems to be overwhelming positive so far; I guess I shouldn’t worry. However, I feel every-time I don’t see a SG tournament with awesome turnout or don’t hear about insane sales numbers I’m going to have a uneasy, “DOOMED” feeling in my stomach. The game is too good and I REALLY want it to live to see its full potential.
All my money Ravid. All my money. I’d buy friggin attatchments, like glasses for Parasoul or whomever. ALL SKULLGIRLS SHIZ TO ME. ;w;
No but seriously, I’d gladly support any kind of DLC you guys dish out, and I think you can be certain that a majority amount of people who have followed this game and have caused probably more than 1,000 pages and the constant GD’s being remade in SRK, will support you as well. So that’s some profit…
Not to mention if you guys crazed the Japanese they’d also suck up anything you throw too.
