I’m almost sure that you have enough time to hard tag Frank during She-Hulk’s level 1 if you don’t input the last part.
Good call. First post edited, with video proof to boot.
Only Power up-hypers (Ryu, Arthur, Firebrand, Wolverine, etc etc) work for that approach. They all recover very quickly (4 frames or so) whereas counters (Strange, Wesker, Task) all cover in 15+ frames. There’s just not enough time to hard tag for the photo.
Added hard tag setups for Vergil and Nova, with video. Updated DHC list with Doom and Thor.
Just found a guaranteed setup with Dorm, pretty sure I can get it to level 4 with a little work, I’ll post videos later if I can.
you can hard tag after dorms 2 red 1 blue explosion for a snap, the assist version offers 3 snaps.
True, but my method gets you more xp than a hard tag and doesn’t require you or the assist to have hand power ups stocked.
Update: having issues with uploading the vids, but was able to find another method with Dorm in training mode while I was at it.

After a smash from a launch combo you can do stalking flare dhc to cart for otg, you then have time to super jump and snapshot. In some cases you can do a knee drop then snapshot. This combo requires certain spacing from the corner though, and does not work with the opponent in the corner. Play with it a bit and you’ll figure it out. I was able to get to level 4 with a relaunch and was able to find ways to make the combo work from most screen positions by playing with relaunches, teleports, dhc timing and neutral jumping after launch.

Just got a vid of this one that I’ll upload tomorrow. Works close to the corner but requires 3 red hands. After your standard combo and a smash you can do liberation xx stalking flare dhc to survival techniques (whiff) super jump and snapshot. Was able to go corner to corner with a relaunch midscreen and got to level 4 Frank.
Shout outs to NonSexualRice for finding it with Jill. Since you can follow up off of shopping cart as long as they’re at the right height, there’s probably a lot of supers that as long as you time the DHC to cart right will allow you either an S relaunch with frank or snap right away. (I hope this works cause I am dying to get a decent way to level up frank off my girls…) On Felicia, the last hit before her big swipe cause a soft knockdown so I bet dhc into cart might work for her. There might be something off of X-23’s Rage Trigger too… I’ll run some tests and let you know what I find. #hoperenewed
Sweet, I figured the method was known, I’m just glad I was able to apply it to my team.
Video of the second combo I was talking about:
Still having trouble with the other video so I’ll have to re-record when I get a chance. Here’s a bonus I had laying around for now.
That first dorm setup isn’t worth using in a match though; Frank’s prone until he lands and there’s plenty of the cast that can punish him hard for it. It’s the same problem Trish Round Harvest setups run into.
Agreed, just wanted to show that it’s possible to use Dorm for level up because none of his setups are listed (not sure how often the op updates). If I can consistently get the knee drop ender down for the stalking flame dhc to otg cart method down I’ll post a vid of that, it’s possible in some situations but unreliable overall.
Here’s another vid with Dorm on point, basically maximizing the meteor shower (2 blue, 1 red) hard tag setup using a launch cancel. Works anywhere on the screen but you get less hits and damage midscreen or directly on top of the opponent in the corner and you can get a kill combo on most characters in the corner using 2 hypers (combo shown builds 1.5). Played with the combo for a while and found the optimal position for hits and damage, with Dorm liberating right outside of the corner. Plus, if you use black hole assist after the snapshot otg you SHOULD be able to get to level 5. Doesn’t require an otg assist for the relaunch (or a relaunch for that matter) but it helps.

Also, I did some more playing with both stalking flare setups and you can actually snap a pic before the ball stops hitting. You sacrifice a hit or two but it makes it safe®.
Kudos to you for putting in the time/effort into finding a way to make an unlikely pairing for Frank work Mexiwont, I respect that. Heck, I almost feel guilty for deciding to be lame and switching to Vergil/Frank/Wesker =P.
Thanks man. Funny thing is that I dropped Dorm a while back and picked up Zero. I was unhappy with relying on exchanges so I’m working on Nova to prepare for Final Round. Sometimes I just get these ideas in my head though that I gotta get out, lol. There will be more coming, the launch canceling has opened up a lot of options. Who knows, I may just go back to my old Dorm/Frank/TM team (didn’t work well before) when it’s said and done.
I actually was running nova/frank/task (nova for leveling, task for anchor/vertical arrows to cover Frank) and while I enjoyed the team, I feel 2 bars for only one hyper/level up just isn’t efficient enough in this game. Switched over to Vergil in order to get level 4 for just one bar that actually does damage. if you can get Dorm/Frank to work for leveling though go for it, Dorm is a strong character. Plus Taskmaster gives you a backup plan with Team Hypers for levels .
Yeah, I’ve kept TM for all o my teams as the back up level up option, not to mention that he’s been my best character (other than level 4+ Frank) since vanilla. I really didn’t want to switch away from Dorm/Frank/TM in the first place, but it felt pointless to have Frank on there if I wasn’t getting past level 3 most of the time. Hopefully some of this technology will help but I don’t like needing to have 3 hands stocked for setups. I’ll play with it and if it’s practical I’ll keep Dorm, if not then Nova it is as much as I don’t like it. I see your point about efficiency, there’s no arguing that using 1 meter to level up is better than 2, but meter is pretty easy to come by as long as you can open people up and finish combos.
Another vid, using the launch cancel into liberation (3 red hands) xx stalking flare to setup a safe situation for Frank to snap a shot and continue the combo. Level 4 is shown but level 5 should be possible.

May be more coming, I don’t think I’m done exploring this yet.
Found out how to level up frank by DHCing from X-23’s Rage Trigger > Cart Super > relaunch. Get’s a quick level 4 with most characters. First 3 clips are more realistic examples of leveling up with WXP, last 3 are new tech. (Sorry for the background chatter on the vid, too.)

I just thought I’d say that it’s really great seeing more creative setups like this for a level up as opposed to the earlier mindset of just finding a character with a hyper that hits a bunch and just sticking with that. It really opens up Frank to a broader audience when they know that their characters can operate well with him, I think; and that’s very exciting.
The lack of damage for two or three hypers still bothers me, though; yet I suppose it’s worth it if one of those hypers helps power up another character.
