As I’m in the design phase of my first stick, I decided to mock it up in Sketchup, a free 3D modeling tool by Google. I wanted to have accurate representation of the parts I was going to use, so I’ve set about modeling some of them, and thought I’d share the work I’ve done so far.
Sketchup is a great tool that I think a lot of people could benefit from using, especially since it’s so simple to use.
Measurements have been taken from the always amazing Akihabarashop. I’ve done my very best to create accurate pieces down to the millimeter, but some ambiguities exist in the measurements. Some measurements have been implied, as without the part in my hands and a caliper, it’s the best I can do.
Without further ado, here are the parts that are currently available.
thats cool and nice of you to try this out, but since akihabarashop has made really detailed pics with measurments and everything already why do you need to create it in 3D?
Because it makes mocking up a design much faster, means you’re not stuck imagining what something will look like, you can see it and tweak it before you make it, and get all your measurements spot on.

I will definitely get more mounting plates done soon, I’ll try to finish those ones first.

I have done similar time consuming 2D work with AutoCAD creating these mounting plates etc
I have also designed my new metal Arcade Stick in 3D using AutoCAD,
seeing your full stick picture I loaded my SketchUp for a play and realised that it imports cad files.
Once I add your 3D mounting plate and some buttons I post it up.
Can’t say I do. I’ve been doing all the work in Sketchup, using measurements from Per’s store and the company catalogs. For the LS-32-01 model I’ve based it on my own measurements taken with a cheapo caliper since the catalog misses some needed figures. There’s some discrepancies between the SS Plate model that was based off Per’s figure and the SS plate I have in hand, but they’re very close.
