Skateboarding: Kick Push and Fall

Fully Flared
Bag of Suck (particularly the Hsu part)

I used to skate when I was like 13-15 but I never learned anything so I quit, I had a poor attitude about myself at the time.

Now I’m 20 and I started last month, basically on my 20th birthday, and I got a good setup and been just going at it. So far I got Ollies and Fakie Ollies (while moving, duh) pretty much on lock, and I’ve landed some really ugly pop shoves.

Got a Chocolate 7.5 (probably gonna get something wider next cause I get heel drag if I’ve been skating for a while and my legs are tired)
Royal original lows, Blue
Hubba bubble baths 51 mm
Bones Reds

My problem was I used to push goofy, and never learned shit, I read somewhere to get someone to push you from behind and whichever leg shoots out is the one you’re supposed to put on the board. So I did it, and fuck I was supposed to push reg all this time. It’s awkward as hell to push down the street reg but I can crack ollies much easier that way. So if I’m going somewhere I still push goofy, and if I’m trying to get my shit down I have to push reg back and forth in front of my house.

P.s. Chomp on this is my favorite video. Baker has a deathwish is close second.

Well shit dude, sounds like you are set up to start skating switch once you get regular down.

I watched Bag of Suck today it was dope.

I basically have the same story, skated like back in 7th grade didnt learn much, now trying to take it semi-seriously and really learn stuff at 22. Gotta say though, youtube and skaterscafe wasn’t available to me back then, otherwise I woulda been wayyyy better lol. They help so much.

and I’ve heard about the deathwish tape, ill give those two a look tonight

Here are some recent vids to watch (sometimes older shit don’t grab people that much)

Instant Classics:
Fully Flared
Mind Field

Well Recieved
Last of the Mohicans
Baker has a Deathwish
The recent Fallen Vid (forgot the name of it)

Cult Classics:
The Denver shop vids
Southern Comfort

If there was youtube when I was 11 I honestly think I would have been at LEAST an AM right now.

Wow i can’t believe i missed this thread. In all honesty i have not skated more then 30 mins in probably 4 years but i still can do a 3 flip. My current setup is someone elses board my favorite boards are enjoi though because i love flip tricks. I used to be sponsored by the boardroom in Boise Idaho until i broke my ankle and pretty much quite due to pain.

As for much watch skate videos:
Menikmati (Es’)
Sorry (Flip)
Jump off a building (Toy Machine)
One step beyond (Audio)
On skateboarding mag video Rodney Mullen edition (On magazine)
Ride or Die (Aesthetics)

I know i am forgetting some…

Minority Report!

Definetly hit up Fully Flared if you can, the best vid I’ve seen in a loong time.

anybody seen the new sk8mafia video yet?

No but butteryass Donovan Strain has one of my favorite styles. So I might check it out.

i was an inline skater for the better part of my life… at the peak i was pro-am until all of my crew moved away for various reasons… anyway, main question… is there is still inline-board beef? … or has that shit been squashed?.. i always found it lame as hell.

i stopped skating around 2001-2002, but the shit i see kids doing nowadays is awe-inspiring… technical to the point of being straight up nuts.

one of my fav. sections of all time… this guy has mad style -

Im 20 too and i was thinking of starting to skate again as well but this time actually learn more. I only rode a bit when i was a kid but nothing that serious. I was broke so never really had a good board like the ones my friend would get. But now i can get my own board and start to actually learn.

Lol right now I dont even think i can even ride a skateboard anymore but i got all summer to learn everything again :looney:

Actually I have some friends that used to inline skate, one was a pro and went all over the world, but quit because he wanted to be a director. He lives in LA now. The other one was a pro but quit because he started skateboarding. I just don’t think it has the same history. But I’m kind of jealous of it as a culture, not because of the way that all of the guys at the park that rollerblade dress like back up dancers for criss cross, but because right now, rollerblading is kinda like what skateboarding was in the 90s.

Ya lets keep the fruit booting out of this lol jk.

I remembered a video that was one of my favorites before my friend tried to ollie my backpack failed and landed on it.

Rodney Mullen vs Daewon song

I agree that the beefing is dumb as hell.

I used to Blade from 2nd to about the 7th grade. In hindsight I should’ve stuck with it as I’d be raw as fuck right now, but as with most young extreme sports goers, I was sucked in by mainstream sports. I was tired of being the only one that I knew, to actually partake in these sports.

But back to the beef, I don’t know what the whole issue is about.

Rollerbladers eat it hard, as they can’t ditch their Skates on a bail, unlike a Skateboarder can ditch his board if he feels something going awry.

Skateboarders eat it hard, as falling off a Skateboard as much more potential for randomness. Board shooting out from under you, board popping up and hitting you in the shins. I haven’t actually played a Sport before where it was this easy to sprain an ankle, just on the most miscellaneous random ass shit .

True that rollerblading is a lot easier to get into, but decent Bladers are like acrobats on wheels. Nobody here is going to honestly tell me that doing flips and stuff off of shit is easy.

Skateboarding is definitely tough in its own right. Most people give up before they learn how to ollie. Those that learn how to Ollie, not many people go on to learn much else. The degree of difficulty and the frustration is always looming.

That’s cold

The final thing I gotta say, is that blading definitely looks a lot weirder than Skatebeboarding. Seems there’s a lot more people that just Rollerblade in general though(Not talking about Extreme blading) so it seems more acceptable, amongst all of the older folks. Skateboarders are looked at like thugs. I’ve gotten so much shit, even from Chicago cops from just riding around on my board. It sucks that they pick with Skateboarders, when motherfuckers are out here killing each other in the streets, but whatever…

i always thought bladers were corny and i thought it would be just a dumb fad. which is why i hated it, but i was like 8. dont care nowadays about bladers
