Skateboarding: Kick Push and Fall

yeah when my friend told me that at school I was like :wow:
I bet nike will pick him up.

RIDE THE BANDWAGON

I haven’t skated in years, but I can promise you if I hopped on a board, I would still have the basics down. I would still be able to move around fine, ollie nearly as high as before, ninjutsu backside shuv-it, and maybe kickflip. Pretty sure I would suck on the launch ramps, I never really did much half-pipe, and I bet I lost my heel-flip and all other flips.

It IS like riding a bike. It works the same way. If you were into trick-biking, you won’t be able to do your best tricks so many years later, but you’ll still be able to ride, and do the basics.

So it’s not really a wasted effort. Go ahead and pick it up if you haven’t yet.

My old board which is still quite useable, and what I can remember of it:

Trucks: Grind King w/dodos
Bearings: Black Panther
Wheels: Spitfire [some standard size] (would prefer thinner wheels)
Shoes: None (Well adidas if I hopped on right now).
Deck: ATM blank, Green, 30" x 7.5" (I think.)

I’ve considered trying to go with longboard wheels since they’re so quiet with no real loss in performance, but never made the switch.

It’s not like riding a bike for me! I take a month off and I’m falling on my stupid face.

Done completely by accident (tried a switch 5-0), which is fair because it was invented by accident.

I count it.

I really like the way this dude skates

Oh man. That kid gets so much hate it’s not even funny. It kinda makes me hate the industry when someone can make a video like that and get so much hate, but it’s funny that he addresses his critics right off the bat in that one! I think the older Denver shop video was better than that one though. Especially with that front flip down the 20 stairs. I had no idea what the hell I was watching when I first saw that . It was just - “jesus christ, what the fuck is that kid doing?!?!?!”

That was fucken nuts.

first time seeing him skate. instresting

I been postin every now and then in the thread about me starting back up skating, me and a friend wanna get decent this summer. but we wanna know what order to work on stuff. this is what we did so far.

  1. Basic skating around
  2. ollie in place
  3. still working on ollie while moving
  4. starting shove its

whats next?

You wanna have a really monster ollie, high and fast. Work on them manuals too. Then try some 180’s frontside and backside.

Have any of you guys ever heard of or met Kevin Graver? He’s a homie of mine who just got arrested in my town and charged with a FELONY for defacing a memorial by skating on it.

First of all, he wasn’t even there, they picked him up skating down a sidewalk in another part of town, and randomly linked him to it. Now, because my local news station put his name to the crime that he didn’t even commit, he has military veterans coming out and harassing him. Basically, a local news station is committing slander about him.

If you don’t know who he is, Kevin is responsible for building much of what’s at the Foundation in Atlanta, a spot you see in lots of east coast videos. He built the DVS training facility, He builds random skateable benches and boxes all around my town, and he works cement for Team Pain. If you feel inclined, please check out the story here, and comment on how rediculous it is. People are arguing about the cost of the crime and respect for veterans and calling him a scumbag, but in reality he wasn’t even there.

My take:

A friend left his skateboard at my place by accident a day or two ago, so today I found it and started messing around just trying to stay on.

Seemed kinda fun. How long did you guys have to skate before you were able to do basic techniques consistently?

Deck: Almost Haslam deck, 8.5
Trucks: Thunders
Bearings: Bone Swiss
Wheels: Blank
Shoes: Emerica

I’m pretty fat and I’m really good at skating.
Probably because i’ve been skating a while, but still.

About a year, maybe a little more. I’m a slow learner though.

Deck: Almost Impact board Daewoon 7.6
Trucks: Royals
Bearings: Spitfires A7s
Wheels: Some wheels from boarders
Shoes: Vans

That’s completely fucked up.

word

yeah it was fucked up. i’m sure dude would know not to skate on a memorial wall, like its common sense. i think vets were just looking for someone to blame.

Some more local rippage
