I just saw where you said guys like Dill look like they live like bums. Dill has got the hookup. If you have ever seen his place, he has an amazingly expensive space in NYC. He’s an artist, so he just LOOKS like a homeless guy. Anyone you’ll see in a videogame or in a 2 page ad layout is probably doing alright if he’s a pro.
There are countless unknown pros in skateboarding. Guys like Kyle Berard, Mike Peterson, Tas Pappas, etc. Either they used to be big, they are only contest skateboarders, or they have weird big money sponsors but no normal coverage. You go to open pro contests (no specific sponsor requirements) and you’ll see people who are pro but not quite “payed”. This one dude skates really solid (but weird) runs in Tampa every year, Judd Heald. People give him crap because he is kind of a weird jesus freak with an afro, but he shows up every year at Tampa and skates like he is pro as shit. Then I don’t hear about him again till the next year. So yeah, there are tons of people who are pro but don’t make bank. But sometimes, placing high in contests repeatedly makes up for it. There is just such a divide between real street pros, and street contest pros so in the media, it’s hard to get a grasp on what the lifestyle is like.
SO I’m assuming unless you make bank, most of these guys have like Day jobs or something. If you do make bank, then it’s probably just like a real job I’m assuming as they’ll have you flying around everywhere and such, and you’ll be expected to compete in these tournaments.
@ Heald.
A hippie that fucking rips it.
So you going to Tampa Pro this year?I’m hoping (Depending on what College is like) that I’ll be able to go next year.Obviously they won’t let anybody compete, but you can still have a lot of fun there right?
does a signature truck model differ from the regular truck model? I am looking to get a pair of the royal evolutions and was curious is there a difference from the regular royal evo truck and a pro model like the royal evo jerry hsu model?
i bought the questionable video when they re released it on dvd. i love to watch that old skool 90s tech skating. plan b was a soild team back then, well they have a pretty soild team now. the early 90’s plan b team is one of my all time favorite teams
Yeah I was reading up on the Old Plan B team and it seems they had an Allstar team back then as well.I also love those older videos.Something about them.I dunno.
Accidentally ordered a pair of P-Rod 2’s :wasted:
Didn’t think the order was going to go through.
Oh well,at least I get a nice casual shoe to chill in,and then when I get tired of them I can skate in them
Too many parts to name but all time favorite is Arto Saari’s First Flip part. Switch frontside board 18 step hand rail WTF?!?!?! Also Andrew Reynolds The end. Sick fucken part.
It took me about 6 days to get here. If you’re lucky, you might get it Friday or Saturday.
i actually grew up in the same neighborhood as kyle berard. he had a mini half pipe in his back yard and he used to throw bbq’s parties in his backyard.
