Of course you have to consider the motives of the people involved. What you’re proposing is like asking a black guy what he thinks of the KKK, asking an Israeli what they think of Hamas, or asking @SenninSRK what he thinks of women. The chances are very good that the facts you’re going to be getting are going to contain some form of bias.
Regardless, anything you say on the topic of women, feminism, and sex are suspect and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Fair enough, I’m done with Sennin, he’s got nothing intelligent to say anyway.
The part I don’t understand is why games get shit on by “feminists” for using sex to help sell them, yet the advertising world does the exact same thing (WORSE in a lot of cases) EVERY DAY as pretty much THE basis of their industry, and not a peep.
Have you ever actually addressed a single point the last time you brought the topic of feminsm up before…no you didn’t. To show everyone how useless doc is on this topic he actually used and defended the now debunked 1 in 5 study…the guy’s a joke who’s previous opinions have all been refuted dozens of times over.
Hey if you don’t believe tell doc to re-quote his previous remarks on this topic and I’ll refute them again. Unlike you and him I am more then willing to back up my statements.
If by “refute” you mean, completely ignore everything I typed, especially the parts where I asked for links to your “sources,” and just keep on insisting that the “facts” you posted (which are really just your misguided opinions,) then yeah bro, just like in this thread, you totally refuted everything! Honestly dude, just stop. The only reason you’re not banned is because @Valaris probably is too busy to deal with you and your alts.
ON TOPIC: As far as I can see, feminism hasn’t really change GAMING itself much. It’s hard to tell for sure, but I can’t imagine we’d see the effects of gamergate and such for a few years. It’s almost too soon to tell what effect this whole thing has had.
Actually I did provide links and I even typed out a lengthy refutation that explained the faults of that study from the methodology to the way way the questions were asked. I was like a 4 paragraph long reply and afterwards you remained silent until the topic faded…to date you still yet to respond or defend why you used such a bad study. It’s the same situation right now when you said men can’t be asked about feminist without bothering to give a compelling "factual"reason. The fact that you ran away last time and refuse to engage the points directly this time again just speak more to your ignorance on the subject. I said this before and I’ll say it now, come at me with any argument you want and I’ll leave you too afraid to respond back all over again.
How about starting off with using the dictionary definition for feminism?
: the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities
: organized activity in support of women's rights and interests
Now that’s out of the way, carry on.
Also, interesting choice of words Merriam-Webster uses. Compare that to masculinist:
: an advocate of male superiority or dominance
dictionarygate?
Anyway, now that you guys have some definitions set you can make valid points. Obviously, this thread is geared towards radical or extreme feminism and how social justice warriors are affecting gaming, or at the very least, the perception of gaming in the public’s eye.
It’s a movement for women in some definitions, which is fine but I just thought I’d point it out. Now obviously definitions are fine and everything but ultimately its the application of movements and ideologiss that define them. In making objective points we have to stay as close to the facts as possible and avoid clouding the discussion with emotional appeals and bias judgment.
While I don’t consider myself a proponent of feminism, would be nice to see a bit more objectivity between radicals and extremist rather than generalizations of an entire ideology.
Best to keep in mind that radical feminists are exactly that - radicals. They’re the exception, not the rule. You define a general ideology by their fucktarded fringe values = fail.
Well, it’s hard to state whether or not something is the exception and not the rule without hard facts to back it up. Not a statement I can make. However, radical or extremists only means the sect of an ideology who, in most cases depending on who you ask, takes the ideology too far. It could very well be that radical ideologues might indeed be the rule, and not the exception. It’s entirely possible. Again, without hard facts, it’s impossible to say, and I do not personally have these facts. It’s also difficult to say who is a, in this case, feminist, and who isn’t. Mostly because some people might identify as it, while the radicals will say they aren’t really true to the cause. Then you’ll have the non-radicals saying radicals aren’t really representative, either. How do you measure an ideology? Who conducts the statistical survey? If it’s a biased party, the facts will be skewed.
Let us not make unfounded statements when we’re trying to be objective
If they were creating things they liked fine, but as of now all I see is them trying to take down anything they deem “problematic” and whining that someone else won’t make their ideal game for them.
And even when people try to cater to them they still run the risk of being put through the wringer on social media because these fuckwits don’t actually know what they want in place of what they bitch about.
