lolâŚwrong. your response typifies why the ill-informed and gullible shouldnât listen to ill-informed, random dudes on youtube. this is a distortion of historical facts. itâs a Lost Cause interpretation of the civil war which is nothing more than a mix of fairy tale and historical illiteracy that has been propagated since the end of the civil war. a widely misquoted letter that lee wrote to his wife is the basis of this fiction that lee was against slavery. the proponents of this tall tale often quote this part out of context:[details=Spoiler]In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any Country. It is useless to expatiate on its disadvantages.[/details]
but often leave out (or editorialize it like the author in the link you posted) the continuation. the entirety of the quote is actually a condemnation of abolitionism not slavery:
[details=Spoiler]I think it however a greater evil to the white man than to the black race, & while my feelings are strongly enlisted in behalf of the latter, my sympathies are more strong for the former. The blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, socially & physically. The painful discipline they are undergoing, is necessary for their instruction as a race, & I hope will prepare & lead them to better things. How long their subjugation may be necessary is known & ordered by a wise Merciful Providence.[/details]so, to recap: slavery is for the slaves own good. itâs better than the alternative of abolitionism (ie: the idea of slaves running around free) and their freedom shall be decided by god. thatâs your hero? lolâŚheâs sounds like a peach of a guy. the reality is that lee was no different than any other confederate soldier. ultimately and objectively, they were by definition traitors and their cause wasnât just or noble or whatever candy coated fiction people choose to seek comfort in.
the civil war was unique in the sense that the winning side did not punish the losing one. conversely, when the conquering allied powers took control of germany and banned the all nazi imagery, books, etc. this was continued by the new west german government. in any event, there was discussion of charging confederate leaders with treason. in the end, the union decided that it was better to be lenient and focus on reuniting the country. which was a horrible decision because an unexpected consequence was that it allowed these traitors to begin writing and propagating this revisionist history which resonates to this day. this transparent propaganda campaign to was recognized early on even back in the day:[details=Spoiler]the greatest efforts made by the defeated insurgents since the close of the war have been to promulgate the idea that the cause of liberty, justice, humanity, equality, and all the calendar of the virtues of freedom, suffered violence and wrong when the effort for southern independence failed. This is, of course, intended as a species of political cant, whereby the crime of treason might be covered with a counterfeit varnish of patriotism, so that the precipitators of the rebellion might go down in history hand in hand with the defenders of the government, thus wiping out with their own hands their own stains; a species of self-forgiveness amazing in its effrontery, when it is considered that life and propertyâjustly forfeited by the laws of the country, of war, and of nations, through the magnanimity of the government and peopleâwas not exacted from them. - union general, george henry thomas, nov 1868.[/details]
i donât feel anything except a feel for the facts. you should try it sometime. anyway, yes now that you mention it. the author (and you apparently) compounded his error by making the same illogical and delusional âsome very fine peopleâ argument the cheeto made at his presser yesterday. for example, the author claimed the rally was organized by conservatives whose only goal was to âpeacefully and quitelyâ protest the removal of the statue. however, the flyer he provided in his own video directly contradicts his claim. the organizer of Unite the Right was jason kessler a self-defined âpro-whiteâ activist. BTW, you should read up on his background. itâs hilarious. also, richard spencer ,who did attend and speak at the rally, and whom you just called a âScumfuck Racistâ is also on the flyer. i guess thatâs the media fault, like the author claims, the attendees and the author apparently couldnât read. also, how does on âpeacefully and quietlyâ protest while holding tiki torches, giving nazi salutes and shouting nazi slogans?

PSA, the media doesnât make people do and say dumb shit. they do it all on their own and without prompting. no one made those dudes who are getting exposed on twitter and who are now claiming,âiâm not a racist like those racists at the racist rally. iâm really a very fine person. i used the tiki torch because i have really bad eyesight at nightâ. lolâŚthe notion that âsome very fine peopleâ somehow innocently found themselves supporting and partaking in a rally organized by a pro-white activist with white nationalists as speakers, like innocent choir boys shanghaied into joining a biker gang on their way to a church jamboree is side-splittingly hilarious. really, there are tears coming out of my eyes right now.
please, the alt right is happy about trumpâs remarks. no need to pretend to be disappointed. so, donât front and try to pretend to be reasonable. stans by definition canât be reasonable. stay in your lane and stick to what you know best.
