Simple question about plugging in a japanese ps2

WELL…

i just want to know from someone who actually owns a japanese ps2 and is living in the States…

do i need a voltage converter to use the japan region ps2 here in nyc?..or can i just plug it in to the outlet.

my import vendor said that i don’t need one for the slim ps2 because the plug fits into a u.s. outlet…but i’m not sure?

i know the voltage between japan and the u.s. is a little different…

but what i’m trying to ask is if anyone here owns a japanese ps2, plugged it into a u.s.a. outlet…and everything was fine in regards to the ps2?
did it work just fine?
did it end up breaking down soon afterward?
or did it explode/short circuit?!?!

any reply would be appreciated.
thanx in advance

It’ll be fine, Japan uses 100V while we use 110V, but most power supplies from there are designed to operated between 100-120V anyway. I have plenty of Japanese systems and electronics and they all work fine.

oh…okay.
i know that hertz count too.
japan has east coast and west coast hertz…

east coast japan uses 50 hertz, while west coast uses 60hertz.

tokyo is in east coast.

we(u.s.a.) use 60hertz
