Thanks for that. I was at the SNCR Tournament and won my first match but then got eliminated out by two Rufeses back to back. As it is, I cannot win against a tournament level Rufus. One of the Rufuses that beat me placed in top 32 out of 250. I could not zone because they knew how to neutral dive kick my long range pokes followed by a jump in that cannot be anti aired. It is like the fucker knew every counter to every option in Dhalsim’s zone. Jumping away got me double kicked. Blocking got me thrown, guessing game reset. Trying to counter poke gets me comboed. Seemed pretty hopeless and almost got P’ed on.
Best Rufus I have run across online was lee-K. He uses other characters too but his Rufus is incredible. Not sure if hes on Xbox live but on PSN his name is Lee-K. He’s not online often but its worth adding him for great rufus/dhalsim matchups
Not sure where he’s from but his connection was green

You need to do the backjump mp more often than in other matchups in order to keep the gap to Rufus. Moreover you can see at 2:17 a more than awesome punish against Messiah Kick.
Don’t know if anybody was in that tournament last night, but every beginning match it was Sim vs. Rufus and all the Rufus’ were knocked out 1st round. I don’t know if it was the players or what, but I always found this to be a pretty balanced match-up.
Ya, SSFIV made this matchup almost an even 5-5, I would say its 5.5-4.5 Rufus.
Of all the Dhalsim’s bad matchups, this is the “easiest” one.
Even Dictator who everyone assumes to be a 5-5 match is harder than Rufus (at least for me)
Respectfully disagree about this being one of the “easiest” of his 5-5s, but I agree with you that it’s 5.5.-4.5 in favor of Rufus. I still have a helluva tough time getting rid of Rufus’ incessant dive kick barrage. I try to option select crouch tech+cr.mp as well as standing mp which is a good deflector, but I just find myself in the corner too often. Cornerbound Sim = RIP in this matchup. Rufus is very fun to keep away with pokes though. I still think Cammy is Sim’s single toughest matchup in this game. A lot of Sims will say it’s Abel, but I’m not too worried about Abels.
I still think that Rufus and Abel are the worst. Of course, the Rufus that I play against is RagingRavenSRK and he beats Sabin’s Sim so… Maybe I’m just biased.
The kid’s only 14, right? He’s savage, to put it mildly. Saw him on the FL stream from Miami a few weekends ago. He did well!
14 or 15. I’m not sure of his birthday. But he’s great.
shortslide xx mp flame is the shit in this match. It will trade very favorably with reversal (after the slide) ex messiah.
I randomly discover an hit confirm combo, that works at a good FA range:
FA liv.2, back dash, forward dash, ultra1 (then super or fire hp xx super hp)
It seems work only versus Rufus, cause of his huge hitbox.
I think it’s interesting because you can need focus versus divekick pressure.
