I mean capture prgrams. Like fraps or such… It did not work on mame.
Fraps is your best bet for any video game footage at all. and if you’re using mame, i’m sure you can find it somewhere.
Also, for video editing, virtualdubmod is probably your best bet. Though I’ll throw in a little props for anri chan from the fellow speedrunners over at SDA: http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,8015.0.html
^^^^ thanks for the tips!
homemade tutorials, here I come!
Any tips on the Dictator matchup? Obviously, I have a very easy time of it when I pin him down, but it’s really hard to stop him flying all over the place with headstomps.
Yea, I dont know what to do with this one either… especially when he does this headstomp loop. He will c.lk into a headstomp, then float behind me and hit me with a mid air punch, then repeat the entire thing ad nauseum. I dont know what to do against his scissor kick corner traps either. I havent had much success with keeping him away, esp. with fireballs since he will just headstomp over them and do that damn loop again. It just seems like Sim has to be up close and in Dics face this entire match, but even that is difficult because he can just Psycho Crusher through everything and run away back to the other side.
Maybe this is a game of patience… neither one can really do a whole lot of damage when they are far away, but when one starts advancing on the other is when the games begin. Sim can counter psycho crusher with fireballs, and long distance headstomps with either the kick yoga flame or the appropriate anti air. But Dic can counter fireballs with headstomp and can keep them guessing whether he will headstomp or psycho crusher.
Anyways, this is just my experience. I need help with this match up too. So… someone knowelgable please explain how to handle these things, as well as what Sim should be doing in this match to win, and what to look out for.
Use lots of drills.
Hello
Hi, I’m very new to SF and baught my first game this year for XBLA… As soon as I got it I knew my character would be Dhalsim… I now also have SF3 3S and Hyper street Fighter 2 (Anniversay edition)
I’d like to know if Hyper Street Fighter is basically the same as ST.
I’d love to learn street fighter and when I found this site it was a holy grail.
So, any tips for a big time Dhalsim newb, How do I train if I can’t on real people? The computer is really, really hard as of now. Although I’ve gotten better through lots of time logged I still can’t beat any bosses without a continieu on easiest.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
You’re better off playing online on PC than practicing on your own… there really isn’t much you can gain from playing single-player with Sim
:wgrin:
There a lot of truth to this, however, I would like to expand on this a bit.
I am sure scaryice means drill, but not blindly, stupidly, or repetively. A good dictator will eat you up with jp.fw mps all day long.
Drills are a fair part of this match up for Sim, especially meaty drills after a AA back + Jab (HUGE part, actually). But you have to be smart about them. I am SURE I am beating a dead horse here and you know better. But I wanted to throw that caveat in there.
So does an Xbox 360 arcade stick work for the computer too?
wow. seems like no one really knows how to beat dictator :shake:
Is this the end of Sim?
Well, I’m a scrub right now and have serious problems against dictator, but this is what I found works really well:
-
jumping back randomly and mixing up drills with fierce punches/roundhouses. just jumping back seems to work a lot.
-
random jab yoga upflames from full screen, kind of a mind game thing.
-
close up, mixing up back-forwards with downback normal shit (whatever you use, i like strong and forwards personally, though i know some like shorts/jabs?)
-
standard drill whiff noogies
-
random jab yoga flames/fires when whiffing normals from 3/4-full screen seems to work a lot because dic players seem to love going for scissors/psycho’s, i like whiffing normals against him.
-
block headstomp, then back-strong follow up.
-
watch round 3, that works

-
slides under headstomps seems to work pretty well.
-
learning to teleport has helped my game against him.
-
yoga flame-walk up throw seems to work well in the corner in my experience, as they will get scared of yoga flame traps (even though i can’t yoga flame trap it still works lol).
I’m having some severe problems with honda now however. He is for some reason my toughest matchup, some of the supposedly “tougher” matchups like chun li are not as tough to me (probably playing against a really good honda), however I really cannot fucking do anything. Seems like his normals beat all of mine, the anti air game is his, and i can’t control space if i can’t prevent him from jumping over fireballs. I seriously am getting raped by honda every time i play, especially if i ever get knocked down. Any tips?
Use stand short(not back and stand short) to counter any attempt of bison doing a Psycho crusher or sissor kick or slide trust me it works esspecially in the begining of a round. I used it on a really good Japanese Dic player on GGPO. Otherwise use stand forward kick and standing strong. Drill and noggie a lot with the roundhouse drill works better than the forward kick drill IMO unless u are using old sim.
I’m pretty sure all wired 360 controllers will indeed work on PC, they use regular USB plugs. Wireless ones I’m not sure.
The Sim thread isn’t exactly the best place to ask this though.
I don’t think I’ve seen a sim player yet who knew anything better than noogie after a dizzy.
here’s a massive combo and looks pretty simple.

Pretty sure that combo only works in the corner, Khiem.
When I dizzy someone, I use jab fb. into st.fierce, to force them into the corner, for continuing pwnage.
I go for a quick up flame, then strong flame. Builds 30% of you super meter. Knocks down and allows you to play a get up game. And does 20% damage on a life bar damage. (Except 4 Big characters, see raisins damage scaling post.)
I’m subscribing here as Sim is my second character…
