Haha! I remember instances where I found myself in this situation. Its hilarious. I recently changed my tune and have found myself doing quite a few walk-up throws lately. Just old fashioned out-of-the-blue throws. I’m sure it infuriates people, but for some reason plain walking up to and grabbing people in ST is seldom anticipated.
Its risky though I’ve eaten a few supers pulling this stunt. But supers really aren’t so bad once you get past the taste
-When I get frustrated playing a good Guile player I end up losing my cool and getting Flash Kicked like no other and adding to my initial frustration, its a slippery slope…
-I go for the flashy finish and pay for it, happens a lot, I just like using a super to finish people off, something refreshing.
-I fall into old blocking habits (ie: not blocking low after a jump in) and get punished.
-Playing too defensively as Guile
Since HDR came out I haven’t played too much 3s, well what little skill I had a few months ago has completely gone out the window. I jump way too fucking much as Ken and end up press toward+mk which doesn’t really help me at all.
Juuust in case there’s anybody reading this who hasn’t already figured it out, identifying your own bad habits is one of the very first steps to becoming a stronger player.

[*]When I know an anti-air is about to miss and it passes over my head (shoto dp, Cammy/Deejay/Chun upkicks), I react too quickly and end up punching the air because Fei is punching in the direction that my opponent was ***previously at. It looks so foolish onscreen. I’ve lost too many matches due to this.
[]The not so good shotos I’ve faced love to use that hurricane kick on me (over and over). I try way too often to flame kick out of it on block and end up eating it.
[]I fall for the spammed jab dps all the time. There’s just no way about it when they’re spamming dps as a shield instead of an anti-air. First dps x2, then dps x3, then dps x5 (umm) . You can’t use a move against that when that’s all they do and you can’t figure out when they’re going to stop. Not enough time to throw them when you add even the slightest lag to it … almost invincible if you ask me. Try to trip em and you eat the dp. Block and try to attack, oh another dp. I usually end up leaving that lobby soon after.
[]I sometimes chase an opponent jumping backwards. Dumb move since they’re going to land and jump forward and kick you while you’re still airborne.

At least I’ve begun to handle some of these situations better, but it’s still frustrating when you see yourself doing it.
Sometimes when I’m on a long wining streak or after I completely smoked someone really hard, I have a tendency to “feel bad for my opponent” and I will either start picking different characters that I have very little experience with or start experimenting with new things for my existing character which eventually ends up in me losing the match because I was screwing around too much.
I often try to block the raging demon, even if Akuma is a good distance away. I know it’s a grab, but I seem to get mesmerized by his floating animation.
I like to get into fireball wars with shotos/Sagat to see how long I can keep up with my sonic booms.
When I get a cross up, I always do c.mp, c.lk, c.mk, sonic boom even though I know it doesn’t combo and even though I know I should just c.mp, flash kick instead. I know I’ve lost a million matches because of this. I just like getting the opponent away from me and putting them on defense.
Whenever I get cannon drilled, I try to hit Cammy with a c.mk everytime, even though I know it’ll never hit ever. It’s stupid.
The whiff fierce DPs can be a bitch to punish. I finally learned to just step forward, wait until I turn then punch them out of the air. Especially Cammy gets to me, throwing me before I even punish. WTF I need to learn the timing better, it looks slower than it really is.
Yesterday I faced another jab DP spammer and had exactly the same problem. Why? What am I not understanding? I see a whiffed DP, I know they will do one again so I attack with my poke asap, yet I get hit anyway, always. I’m not even trying to be fancy, just spot one, counter it ASAP. To no avail. I’ll look op framedata for Fei to see what moves comes out quickest, maybe C.MP is too slow.
Flamekicking people out of hurricanes after blocking them sometimes works. Sometimes I get DP’ed. Dont know if it is just luck or timing.
Another bad habit:
always trying to CW incoming hurricane kicks. It looks so logical to land that attack, would even be a nice juggle. But no, it NEVER hits. Yet I always do that on reaction. Why? I could just flamekick instead. Strange brain.
trying to counter raging demons, because he looks so vulnerable. I even try to throw it. So sad.
This is actually a great habit. I do this all the time as an opportunity to learn other characters, and it gives you and the opponent the opportunity to learn something new.
Whenever I’m playing as someone that isn’t Dictator(my main), and I get fireball trapped or something similiar I always want to do a Devils Reverse, but realize, duh I’m not Dictator.
Also sometimes in moments of extreme pressure, I will revert to thinking I’m playing Dictator and try and overcome the situation as if I was him… Trying to scissor kick with Ken FTL.=’(
Sometimes I get so engrossed with the match that I forget there’s a timer ticking. This has won me some matches unknowingly and it has also cost me plenty of them.
I don’t take lag into account when I play online and as a result, I forget to remind myself that sometimes what I see happening on the screen is not always what it seems… =(
