Silly Fleshings!: The Shuma-Gorath Team Building Thread

Deadpool (KatanaRama!) / Magneto (EM Disruptor) / Shuma (Mystic Ray)

Mystic Ray is retarded. Laming away with this team works really well, with DP’s guns and EM Disruptors. Mystric Ray can also knock up opponents, so if the opportunity arises DP can A Guns xx Gun super.

Just settled on this setup tonight, so I’ll have to play with it more to come up with more strats.

With my team in this game, it better to have Doom Plasma beam assist if Shuma is gonna be on point. Plasma beam hits HARD & FAST, which gives Shuma time to rush down the opponent.

I prefer an OTG assist for shuma so my team right now is Shuma/Wesker(sam edge)/Doom(plasma beam). Still fresh with the team but I have a feeling they mesh up nicely. Wesker and doom are already a perfect match.

I might have to try that team out Tessius.

Team St.Patty’s Day: Tron/Shuma/Doom the Mean Green Drinking Machines, lol

Beyond that, the team is actually pretty solid, I’d be running it myself but I like my Tron/Viper/Doom and Mags/Shuma/Trish teams too much

I plan on trying Shuma-Gorath (Mystic Ray)/Dormammu (Dark Hole)/Taskmaster (Aim Master H) tonight.

i haven’t used him quite enough to say for sure, but seems like he could make a decent battery for chars that’d burn through meter, like pheonix or dorm, and definately seems to benefit greatly from a teammate that has a good OTG assist, so I’m going to try X-23 (ankle slice), Dorm (blackhole), and Shuma (mystic ray)…might work out for me, might not…I’ll find a way to have him on my team one way or the other, even if i have to replace someone else to accomidate him…made this decision the moment he was announced as dlc.

Replace Dorm with Akuma and his Tatsu assist and you have my team down. I’ve been trying different combinations and I really love Tasky and Shuma. Personally I use Parabolic Arrows for AA, but I might go to horizontal ones because of the Mystic Ray being a decent AA.

I think shuma-gorath is harder to place than I originally thought.
I usually play Dante / Sent / Dorm and have retarded success.

I am dropping Dante for Shuma, and no longer know where to put him…

I am soooo comfortable with dorm as anchor, its stupid.
Sometimes I get raped and all I have is dorm and I STILL win. Sometimes Its just me vs the world with him…
But shuma point is not that great. I have severe problems seeing as how his dashes and jumping is all slow, no way to alter his trajectory except with shuma balls. Also his combos with only 1 meter aren’t as good as others, and the DHC is limited.

Tonight im gonna hit the game hard and Try Sent / Shuma/ Dorm, or Sent / Dorm / Shuma or Dorm / Sent / Shuma.

drones, dark hole, mystic ray assist for all situation.

I find playing with Shuma much more comfortable when I’ve stocked up some meter, so he’s chilling as #2 on his team, a battery can make him much scarier on point, comboing into Chaos Dimension is piss easy for the amount of damage it does too…

You guys might hate me for this, but Shuma + Sentinel + Phoenix feels oh so right to me. Phoenix and Shuma work so beautifully together, that mystic ray assist is so godly when used as covering fire for teleport crossups, it hits everyone everywhere on screen. Shuma has some incredible normals IMO, and he’s great at building meter so he really helps out Phoenix if you want to try to run Dark Phoenix. I get tons of people trying to super jump in on Sentinel, and Shuma’s alpha assist is great here for the unexpected area it covers straight above Sentinel. He’s surprisingly mobile, I used to run She Hulk on point for this team, and I was amazed to find that Shuma Gorath can get in just as easily, even without super jumping.

I like to give Sentinel his upwards sent force assist, and TK trap on Phoenix, because Shuma Gorath can really control the ground and protect himself from attacks directly above himself. Forcing the opponent to super jump in sticky situations gives Shuma the edge quite often, as far as I can tell. I would worry about highly mobile characters with good ranged attacks when playing this team, because I often had that sort of problem when I was running She Hulk. With Shulkie however, I had problems with Dormammu, and now that I’m using Shuma, I can tear the guy up. I still fear Wesker though. Dante, as always, is a crapshoot because so many people try to play him so differently. I find that rushdown Dantes can really give my Shuma trouble, but getting Phoenix in safely really turns things around.

Arthur/Shuma/Sentinel is working well for me so far

i usually lockdown the opponent with arthur and keep them at bay with mystic ray

which results in major raging and whining if my opponent can’t stop it

though once shuma gets on point
i’m dead meat so i gotta figure out how to use him better so that he’s not solely used for his assist on my team

i wouldn’t dare think of dropping him
after seeing how effective his assist is to arthur’s game

I’m loving Shuma on point, and to be honest, I think your team really needs that Shuma support to deal with rushdown. I recommend trying to avoid zoning with Shuma, his projectiles are far too slow to keep people out alone, but definitely mess around with his normals, they’re crazy good.

Mystic Smash plus Sentinel Drones can be a pretty nasty mixup.

My entire purpose in this game is to find a team that works well with Dormammu; everyone else is just a placeholder for his pleasure.

Indeed, and it works with pretty much any projectile well. Dark Hole even works.

Shuma/Dorm/Wesker?

Mystic ray assist benefits both these characters for different reasons. Wesker has a lot of nice ways to help extend shuma’s combos, with an assist that’s both a low hit (setting up air mystic smash unblockables) and hits otg (helps with some of shuma’s midscreen combos). Wesker is a good battery for both Dorm and Shuma who are reliant on meter for a lot of their damage. You can also cancel into Wesker’s counter super to try to screw over anyone attempting to punish Shuma’s sexy posing after a whiffed or blocked hyper, and then into Dormammu’s flame super if that fails for some reason or you just need to get Dorm in. Pretty sure both pillar and black hole will be useful assists for Shuma too.

Should shuma decide to go with mystic smash assist, that will help a rushdown dormammu or rushdown wesker on offense by keeping an opponent locked in place.

as far as DHC’s go, hyper mystic ray into chaotic flame should be pretty obvious. You could probably also DHC into wesker counter off HMS while opponents have eyeballs on them to keep a combo going from shuma to wesker at the expense of two bars. (ground combo into mystic stare > HMS > Rhino charge DHC > teleport and combo.

The only problem here is that both dormammu and wesker’s optimal assists don’t really help Shuma get in. But Dormammu’s will keep the opponent in place long enough to do some fun chaos dimension tricks.

Haha, I like this thought. I’ll use it more with Taskmaster.

This is the secondary reason I don’t use that team - Shuma doesn’t perform so hot in it. Dormammu also does not particularly benefit from Samurai Edge in my opinion. Shuma-Gorath can relaunch on his own if you learn to combo with him properly; I’m convinced the guy can combo until hitstun makes further hits impossible through a variety of means. Also, Wesker bothers me - he looks like a Matrix reject.

I actually really liked the synergy between Shuma-Gorath, Taskmaster, and Dormammu. It was just day one though, so I don’t expect the waters to part for me, especially after only seven matches.

Thank you, though.

I have been thinking of developing a keep away team and two people I’ve thought about f or it are shuma and dorm togeather. I’ve been thinking there should be an easy way to go from his double loop into c.H into dorm’s black hole assist into Shuma’s super which can be dhc’d blah blah. One of his biggest problems for shuma is low damage if the opponent does not end up in the corner, fixed with black hole assist.

The other person I though about playing on this team is modok on point. His ground laser/analyize cube keep away is viscous, his problem is that all of this nonsense can be super jumped, hello mystic ray assist.

Dormammu’s assist can keep your opponent locked down during the gap where you’re jumping to TK a Mystic Smash, or for more Chaos Dimension pressure. Can the Chaos Dimension bite still get you pushed away if Dormammu’s tower’s hitting them?

i usually go all over the place with mystic smash and try to use some normals to get out
