Silent Hill Thread

Spoiler

Lisa into find herself in Outworld Silent Hill. She is an imposter created by Alessa using her memory of Lisa for the sole purpose of delaying Harry from his efforts with screwing with the seals of metraton. There’s a reason why Harry only meets with Lisa in otherworld.

The stuff about the town when it was a tourist attraction, we have no idea when any of that took place. The articles have no dates on them. Was it before the fire, last year, last week, yesterday’s paper? We just don’t know.

Laura never stuck me as a people person. He treated everyone she encountered in the game like crap. I took it as she didn’t care the town had no people in it

Spoiler

Wait, Lisa was an imposter? I don’t remember anything like that.

Also, like I said, Harry wouldn’t take his daughter to an abandoned town. He most likely made a hotel reservation or something shortly before traveling there. I also doubt that an entire town disappearing wouldn’t attract national attention.

I don’t believe Cybil saw any monsters until near the end, either.

And even if Laura wasn’t a “people-person,” she’s still a child and would be overjoyed if she found a human in a town full of monsters. The reason why she wasn’t is because she saw no monsters. Take a look at this cutscene:

James asked what Laura was doing there (implying that it’s dangerous to walk around the town), and Laura wonders what the heck he’s talking about.

^…I see dead people…

oh yeah, where the SH “Bible” at?

pretty much explains everything, maybe the wikia does too.

Harry taking Cherry there on vacation had to do with the cult. They used a spell to attract the second half of Alessa’s soul back to town to complete the ritual. Cybil was attacked by a monster. It’s why you had to fight you in the amusement park. Not to mention, Huffman was attacked by one when you meet him. A lot of the stuff in SH1 is explained within the game itself.

Of course Laura saw no monsters. She was completely innocent. SH2 wasn’t like the first one where someone’s else nightmare spilled into the town and everyone in it got caught up on it.

my guess is the monsters you fight used to be humans at one time. Now their reincarnated as demons; even if the main characters did hallucinate random people do not attack people for no reason. Not just that im sure the cops would bust their ass too if they saw random people start fighting

I swear this is true, it’s one of the major things I remember playing the game. Although I played the Ps2 version, that could be why.

There are a few things being posted in this thread Team Silent have confirmed or denied themselves. Here’s a link to an English translation of the Book of Lost Memories for those who haven’t seen it (tons of spoilers ahead, obviously):

Just finished a run of SH3 (also 360 version). I haven’t beaten it as much as 2, so I don’t consider myself as knowledgable about it, but some things to mention are:

  • The improved graphics here are GORGEOUS. They did an especially good job with the texture work in the later part of the game, so kudos for that. Felt like I was playing the PC version again.
  • The skipping sound bug is present in SH3 too. Rage.
  • There are also some errors I didn’t experience in SH2’s port, such as distorted sound in a few places (save points, when firing the SMG, etc).
  • New VAs for SH3 are surprisingly great. Heather is very slightly worse, but the entire supporting cast is 10x better, most notably Douglas. There are a few misread lines, but it was never anything important or out of place.

I think the SH experience explains the mythos of SH the best since they cover all the material with direct quotes from team silent hill staff to support their arguments. Anyhow I would like to support SHHD but as a fan of the original I can’t forgive the company for ruining the series after SH4 with the horrible american developed games(SHO,SH5,SHSM,SHDP).I really do wish they would just return to team silent or a development team who actually understands the plot and mythos, as it stands the series has been in retirement since SH4.

The series went downhill with SH4. Since Team Silent developed that game so the series probably would have gone to shit even if they stuck around. Also not supporting the old stuff you like because the new stuff is shit doesn’t make any sense.

Select members of team silent hill developed SH4, it had lost 2-3 of its core developers and the original creator had left. SH1-SH3 were created by the core SH team while SH4 only had a few core members left. This is why SH4 still felt like a SH game even in spite of being vastly inferior to the first 3 games since it still had some"SH team"influence on it.

Every other game after SH4 was garbage mainly because the US development team who handled the series afterwards didnt fully understand the mythos or plot of the game. A team SH game would have been 100 times better then what we saw from the US development team and using SH4 as evidence against this point is mute since SH4 was not developed by the full SH team. As for not willing to support old stuff…well I don’t want to support the company milking a franchise they have shitted on for the least 3+ years considering I am a big fan of SH1–SH4.

I am playing SH3, and I am in nightmare brookhaven hospital. God damn! Seeing that place go to hell like that is awesome. The mirror scene, that weird black box as well as that valtiel(spelling?) scenes were freaky. Way better than the SH2 version. I also like the music change when you first step into foggy silent hill. I almost forgot SH3’s epicness since everyone is praising SH2 a lot. Great scenes!

The franchise has to still be relevant for it to be milked. SH sadly hasn’t been since Konami gave Team Silent the boot. Silent Hill must still make them enough money to continue on with the series but they really need to take the series away from the Western devs. I been watching a walkthough of Downpour on my free time and that shit looks like SH in name only.

Even if Konami treated the series like shit I still plan on picking up the collection. I want to support the old stuff.

True but I dunno…I feel like supporting them will make them think"hey people will still give us money as long as it has SH on the title". I want to support the old stuff but knowing it won’t encourage konami to develop SH the way it was from 1-4 is the reason I don’t. Sadly downpour is just another example of why the real SH series left us a long time ago…

Don’t want to spoil anything but… uh…

So yeah, how was that demo? Anything like that ending… wink wink.

knowing kojima he’s probably just messing with people calling it silent hillS.
i’m guessing it’s gonna become silent hill 5.

there are many hills in the game nigga :coffee:

Guess at this point, cats out of the bag.

The ending to the game P.T. for PS4 (free for download on PSN) has the Silent Hill 5(?) Trailer as the ending.
It actually ties in, since once you walk outside the trapped room, it makes a transition into the trailer.

This was a really nice fuckin’ surprise after checking out PT, not knowing what the ending was.
Kojima stated he downgraded the game’s visuals too, to make it look like an “indie game” since it was originally advertised as a demo for a horror game to come from a 3rd party developer. Fake twitter accounts were made to help answer questions on people who didn’t beat the game, only to reply back with “you’ll know when you beat the game!”

The fuckin’ promo to PT was a convincing fake too, wtf?! I checked it out just cause I love horror games, but that ending…

Hideo Kojima… are you a God?

I played half of the P.T. demo. it felt like a more realistic version of Outlast. I will probably play it tomorrow, if I do I will stream it and post it on here.
