I saw Filipino Champ doing it tons in a recent tournament.
Quick question, I see a lot of people doing fly unfly
, is there any specific reason why I should be doing this? My sent is getting better, but my air control is pretty darn lackluster at the moment, I pretty much just jump/fly and spam whatever normal comes to mind.
Oh and just an fyi for all you other sent users, it turns out weskers counter can counter hard drive, you can imagine the rage I felt when I saw this occur. But you live n you learn I guess.
The first j.m will hit them if they are in the air, and the second j.m will keep them from moving around on the ground if they didn’t jump.
…
So it covers a lot of space then, good to know, need to implement that into my game cause like I said prior, all I do is spam shit whilst I fly with him. Still getting the hang of the whole flight thing.
I was wondering one thing today. What can Sent do as an AA against cancelable jump ins into beam supers or invincible supers? Is TK Hard Drive the only option? Dash under seems mad hard considering the machine’s size.
I don’t think I fully understand your question, like an air attack that can be cancelled into an air hyper? Well other than hard drive and phoenix flame I dont know of any air hypers that are fully invincible. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, any normal timed properly, or armored normal will beat out the start-up of most if not all air hyper start up.
Sents AA are, standing m, standing s, and jumping m, h, s depending on the angle. Jumping m can be hit confirmed into another jumping m into an air s.
Give Sentinel his 1.3 mil health back in umvc3!
agreed. or at least some where near 1 mill. He gave me so much meter with that high health.
Yea I would gladly trade damage for some hp, for a character as big as sent, his health is too low. I think if they put him somewhere around the range of taskmaster and captain america it’ll be all good.
Sentinel needs to kill people he hits. He’s fine how he was in vanilla MvC3. As long as he can still kill someone with a full level 1 xfactor combo and he can still do 800k for 2 bars by himself then he doesn’t need anything.
You honestly believe sentinel is fine the way he is? I mean his damage isn’t even that high considering how hard he has to work to open (competent)people up, unless your starting your combos with the frying pan your doing about 6-700k with 2 bars and a fly/unfly combo. I would be glad to be wrong in this regard but I find it hard to believe that a character with a hitbox as big as the regular screen, a crouching hitbox bigger than about 40 percent of the casts standing hitbox, but less health than viewtiful joe is fine the way he is. Im not even asking for 1.3 mill back, in hindsight that was a tad bit ridiculous if you ask me, but somewhere between 1 and 1.1 mill isn’t too much to ask.
Yeah, doing an armored cr.m, calling dante assist, flying, and stomping on someone’s head and then command grabbing them to kill them in one combo is really hard.
I use Wesker assist too so I have easy ass unblockables. All I have to do is fly over and hit j.h s. Oh no this is so hard and I do no damage. Sentinel will have some of the highest damage in the game after the DHC glitch is gone.
I personally have posted Sentinel combos off cr.m that do 660k midscreen for 1 bar. The basic fly/unfly combo does 620k for 1 bar. If you do an unfly relaunch combo or a corner rocket punch relaunch combo you can get very good damage easily.
Sentinel’s air control is amazing with j.m and j.h. You can’t even be random hyper’d out of them because you can just cancel into hard drive. Even if you whiff you can dhc into someone else and probably get a full combo anyway.
If you end a 1 bar combo with tk rocket punch xx hard drive then you will always get your opponent in the corner and can always end with cr.m xx rocket punch to prevent them from rolling.
So what your saying is sentinel doesn’t have a hard time opening people up? Why then does he need to kill the people he hits if its so easy for him to open people up? Your kinda confusing me with your posts now, your first post implied he didn’t get too many openings and as such he needed the damage, which I-kinda-agreed with, now your second post claims he has an easy time opening people up, if that is true, then-correct me if Im wrong-but he doesn’t need the damage. I mean isn’t that why wolverine was considered such BS? Cause he could open you up for free, and get high damage with very little effort?
But you know what, w/e, this argument is obviously not going anywhere and more importantly is completely irrelevant since capcom will do w/e they think is right despite what either of us think sent needs.
Sentinel needs assists for offense but his moves have such good hitboxes that even if the actual mixup isn’t that good he gets a lot of free damage in pressure situations. He basically forces you to respect him, and then punishes you for it. He doesn’t have great mixups but he is very good at getting ‘in’ on the opponent. His command grab has great range, especially if kara-cancelled, and he can convert an air throw into a combo with an assist, xfactor, or 1 bar. His j.m makes jumping out on him not terribly effective. And of course any time your opponent is at mid range they have to worry about random launcher into death combo.
Basically, if you throw enough boots at the opponent’s face, one of them is going to hit. Like you said, you just have to not get hit by the retarded instant overhead potential vs the rest of the cast.
Also, like I said before, because people are so scared of hitting buttons vs Sentinel (because of his priority and high damage) you can get a LOT of mileage out of unblockables.
Ok when you voice it like that, I do agree, sentinels offense if fine the way it is, and to be honest, I don’t think sent is bad even with the 900k health, I just hate dying in one combo. With the dhc glitch gone, at the very least he won’t be getting killed in one combo anymore so thats an immediate buff anyway and I guess if your playing sent properly your opponent shouldn’t be getting close enough to perform the aforementioned instant overheads anyway. I guess your right, although id still rather have 1.1 mill health. Now I just gotta practice my boot pressure cause it is ass at the moment.
Excuse me, but I have a noob question about Sentinel’s Rocket Punch nerf. So the hitstun on it is lowered enough that :qcf::l: -> :qcb::atk::atk: doesn’t work anymore after an air combo (I already know about Hard Drive). Does anyone know if this nerf also applies to his aerial rocket punches? I want to know if his TAC death combo is intact.
Sorry bro, can’t help you there, but since rocket punch into tk hard drive still works, maybe they changed the properties on his HSF as opposed to his rocket punch thus leaving his TAC style combos intact. On to a different topic, I didn’t see any team thread so I decided to ask this here, the team Im currently running is sentinel/akuma/dante, but I’ve been considering sent/akuma/doom how do y’all feel about these teams? Im personally not a big fan of jam session, maybe Im not using it properly but it scales damage a little too much for my taste and as such I’ve been considering an assist that helps boost sents zoning since he already has an assist that helps his rushdown in tatsu.
Thoughts? Oh btw the reason Im running a team of assist characters is cause Im trying to learn sent and akuma on point as opposed to just the cr. and tatsu spam that I see excibited by too many players.
Sentinel is in the air all the time. Jam Session stops them from whiff punishing your attacks. I don’t use it as a pressure/get off me assist. I use it to cover screen space so that I know that if I swing I’m safe (safer). Doom missiles can serve the same purpose because if they hit you they can’t do a full combo. They also serve as great protection against Dante/Phoenix/whatever teleports that go behind you. I think Dante w/ drones is hella cheap though, more cheap than Doom with drones.
All of doom’s assists will also scale Sent’s damage pretty badly. Doom’s beam is amazing though and can make Sentinel’s beam pressure actually threatening. Honestly I would just consider which character you want to play more.
Hmmm, thanks for the feedback, ill fool around with doom a little and see if I like him.
