Yeah, I saw this when he first uploaded it and he quickly displays what a hypocrite he is. He also shows his awesome knowledge about MvC in general by saying “Everyone knows MvC2 roster was nothing but clones.”. Cool, so Ken, Akuma, Ryu, Dan, Sakura, Cyclops, Captain America, Morrigan, Iron Man, War Machine, Wolverine and Bone Wolverine are 100% identical and make up 52 character slots.
And that doesn’t matter one bit unless they also help to sell more units of the game. Capcom isn’t your best friend, and they aren’t making games to a “dedicated community” out of some strange sense of loyalty. They are a business and in it for the money, and the hardcore “keeping it alive” doesn’t mean much if it doesn’t help sales. If this game could sell one million units, it could fall off the radar within a month and Capcom would still have an incentive to make MvC4. The largest portion of sales will most likely happen within the first few months, and it won’t be because of the “hardcore” minority.
He would probably be more of a spacing/defensive character if he had to remain grounded more. Lots of lasers canceled into flight to frying pan someone down back into lasers or something if he couldn’t remain airborn long. We’ll have to wait and see.
Probably, but I would wager three issues:
Super armor is nice, invincibility is better.
He’s stationary, which makes it easier to punish. It’s harder to punish a DP assist because it’s flying up the screen and your opponent is still in front of you. With the assist and point in one place, you don’t have to be as worried.
His other assists are probably much better.
Plus, did you notice his sentinel bomb force got a serious buff? It’s not just a little collection of poop that falls out after a while, it bombs the entire floor. If Sentinel has this as an assist, it might replace the old sentinel force assist, especially since it looks less effective now (if Sentinel gets hit, the drones blow up - blech!).
I’d think the rerelease has more to do with the multitude of fans that requested one, and Capcom’s policy of listening to its fans recently.
Fans, not hardcore tournament scene.
Sure we have importance in the success of a game, but the world’s a lot bigger than SRK, and our impact on Capcom’s bottom line is minor compared to the whole of fans and casual players. Cut the sense of entitlement crap please. We are a minority.
i think all sides should follow this, actually. the tourney players shouldnt take a backseat to scrub demands, and the scrubs should be able to have their fan pleasing shit in there.
casual players LOVED MvC2…until they tried to run their hayato/iceman/guile shit online and got wrecked. why do you think people look so fondly on MvC1 now? if that game was re-released on PSN and people took it online, strider/wolverine/hulk/war machine would get the same hate the top 4 in MvC2 does.
Wholeheartedly agreed, with everything said here. While casuals and scrubs may outnumber tourney players a thousand to one, the fact does remain that tourney players know more about the game than a scrub could ever hope to learn, so on certain issues there’s no way tourney players should take a backseat. But the casuals are just as important to the success of a game, and even moreso to the success of it as a franchise.
Both are necessary for MvC to be a continued success. But going on about the merits of a seriosu player’s input here is just preaching to the choir.
Also Tourney players are vital to the continued success of a fighting game, partly due to the fact that footage of them playing the game with a higher skill level makes people want to buy the game, due to how fun they make it look, and that lasts a lot longer than the initial marketing buzz.
