After watching that Dodgeball episode, I was thinking about how awesome this would be.
‘How I Met Your Mother’ as a fighting game would be awesome.
Slayers central theme is high-fantasy combined with medieval archetypes. It translates well into something like Final Fantasy 1-4; in fact, three RPG-based Slayers games have been produced.
But I see a ton of potential on basing a fighting game off the series. The numerous offensive methods used in the anime and manga would translate well into a fighting game. They got spells with unique properties (normal projectiles, freezing, ground-based shit), swordplay, hand-to-hand specialists, and some unique abilities here and there.
Biggest concern with a fighting game based off Slayers is the balancing the characters. Literally, almost every character specializes in at least two of the attack methods mentioned above. Plus there’s just too much shit to work with, that even if they refined and made it fair down to the last ability, the game would still have a number of abusive shenanigans.
Also, the game would never be released in the states, it’s not popular in this day and age. It was a cult classic in 90’s, but it wasn’t enough of a cult classic to warrant it any releases in the west, unlike Ranma. And the show never blew up and achieved mainstream popularity like DBZ, Pokemon, or Cowboy Bebop. Think about, how many people still like Slayers to this day; let alone even knowing that this franchise exists?
Speaking of anime shows. One of the currently ongoing ones, Horizon in the middle of nowhere, looks like BlazBlue in a tv show form, it would very easy to adapt.
The Slayers not popular? It just had two new seasons from 08 to 09, both of which are barely being aired North American channels as of last year. Plus the manga’s are still ongoing.
DBZ and Pokemon are cash cows so it’s not a fair comparison. Cowboy Bebop though, lol, no, Slayers is WAAAY more popular than it. Not that it isn’t a great show. It just doesn’t have built in D & D nerd fanbase that Slayer had.
I think if it was made in a more 3d fashion than it could work. Like Power Stone but with a lot more long range attacks and traps. If you want to talk about something that wouldn’t be popular that I would like to see it would Rune Soldier or Bastard! made the same way.
Now that I think about it we need a Beserk fighting game, or just make it a crazy multiplayer 3d brawler with magic. Beserk would be good for that and for just an all out fighter we have to go with the manga that is the best when imo when it comes to crazy fighting…
Battle Angel.

Heard that show was a steaming pile of shit made for 12 year olds that like jiggly animated boobs, can you confirm?
No, my opinion was different. That show is an adaptation of a book series and while the author really likes women in Nu-13 like skintight bodysuits and a bit of humorous fanservice, they are only half of the cast and all characters have quite a bit variety in their personalities\abilities.
In short, imagine BlazBlue having a huge popular book series that detailed every single thing about the setting and character lives, including how Ragna’s favorite food tastes, before it was made into the game and watch this.
Maybe people who thought it was bad though it was too slow for a fanservice show, because first 5 episodes had to show one day from different points of view to introduce main characters, their motives, explain some of the premise and show ongoing events, or maybe they watched it with some horrible fanmade subs instead of official ones.
Not gonna lie, watched an episode and it was clusterfuck of cliches and titties. Even the most autistic and horny preteen would have hard time with this one. Shit makes less sense than that trash ass Ikkotossen or whatever that shit is called. What kills me more is how this show has this retarded budget compared to shows that might actually be relateable to your average non-otaku idiot. I guess after junk shows like Queens blade, everyone knew that they could throw whatever against the wall and always make a return as long as it was pretty.
Rather watch Guilty Crown, atleast it has seemingly redeemed itself since ep 3.
Anyways fuck both those shows, Hunter x Hunter needs its own stand alone fighter.
Man I know anime fans can stomach a lot of shit but after watching this and the opening I’m left wondering, how detached from reality do you have to be to not even register this show as “fucking stupid”.
On topic : Gunnm would make an amazing brawler, fighting game I dunno. But if there was a fighting game I’d like some repping of the original cast, not just Last Order shit (even though Last Order is good if you like shônen mangas).
A good Valkyrie Profile would have been dope. I mean, all the concept is right there, going to waste, you know ? Valkyrie Tag Battle wasn’t awful but it’s as poverty as poverty can get.
Fuck yeah, Jashugan vs Caerula would be the shit.
I just don’t know how the older people would fair against the likes of Space Karate users. Of course I am thinking aside from crazy abilites, a lot of the ZOTT competitiers aren’t really that much more powerful than the guys down on Earth.
Den/Kaos would be bad ass to use…
Valjyrie Profile and so many other crazy rpg type games would be nice to see. The Tales series need to get a rendition that is similar to Soul Calibur but with projectiles and shit. Something that isn’t that cheap ass Tales of Vs.
I vote for this over adapting every last anime and manga in the universe into a fighting game (I’m sure they’ll get around to that anyway). Bane as a grappler, Robin as an irritating zoning/trap/troll character, 60s/Adam West Batman as a separate character, it almost writes itself.
Godzilla would be cool too… or just resurrect the PS2 era Godzilla series, but better.
Fuck yeah, we need an updated King of the Monsters.
Speaking of updating, I would love to see a fighter based off of El Viento and the other games in that whole Ernest Evans trilogy.
When Darth Vader and Yoda were in SC:IV I was hoping a Star Wars fighting game made by Namco adapted from the SC system would happen. A Star Wars game that isn’t Masters of Teras Kai.

I feel like they could’ve done the Bourne series much better in its video game translation. I feel a fighting engine developed in the style of the movies (impromptu weapons, targeting limbs, use of the environment) would make a great fighting game. My only fear is that it would become a sticky fighting game. Instead of the fluidity of the movies it would become a stop-go-stop-go competitive action game.
Jashugan would punch her so hard her ovaries would come out of her throat.
Then Gally would die only to resurect more powerful with cat ears, cat tail, wings and a maid costume.
I haven’t seen much of this show, but an Adventure Time fighter would be amazing.
BattleTech.
Also W40K.
He’s selectable with the Noise Factory cheat(UUUUDDDLLR)
Lol, yeah, Yukito needs to stop letting fans design her new costumes. It’s cool and all that he actually listens but damn. I think he kinda poked fun at the whole thing in the last issue I read.
Precure.
If Toei’s other big magical girl cash cow (Sailor Moon) can get 2 fighting games, despite being a pretty bad action series, why can’t their heavy action based magical girl show get one?
I had all sorts of ideas for a Cat Ninden Teyandee (Samurai Pizza Cats) fighter. Lots of the characters already have signature attacks and such in the show, and the overall setting and style would translate well, IMO.
