Should We Ban Akuma In local HDR Tourneys?

porn’s not gonna download itself.

Streaming a tv/video is hella high bandwidth and asshole behavior to do constantly, but it’s also possible he sees you never using connection for anything other than websurfing, so he assumes you don’t need it.

Myself, I do my torrenting during the day when no one uses it, and when my roommates are streaming something I let them cus I use the net like 10x more than they do. But it is completely appropriate to say “can you turn that stream off so I can play some HDR”, or “lemme play after (time) on the xbox”…

I wish there was some way to verify zip codes and whether someone has entered an ST tourney in the last say, 8 months with us, cus if you don’t meet that criteria I don’t give a flying fuck about your opinion on Seattle HDR…

Let these nigs know what the deal is, 206 is what it is and how we do. All day.

Bullshit, he knows i play on LIVE ever since i bought my damn Elite. I know he doesnt do it purposely to piss me off, but its fucking frustrating nonetheless. Then my other 2 'mates play Battlefield Bad Company to the point where i come home and looking forward to say…watching a Netflix streamed move/tv show and I cant even do that. Fucking garbage.

edit - i havent entered shit in months, so im that group.

Wait, they play on your xbox? Do we need to assemble the crew and handle some business? Hold it down for the crown homie.

Um, have them push Pause for an hour or two. Torrenting/streaming and other bandwidth HOGS are HOGGING the bandwidth. Either use some sort of metered connection sharing or just ask them to knock it off for a while so others can use the limited resource.

and, what is this thread about anyways???

my bad, ill takin to the Negro thread.

Well as it stands, unless a massive group of Anti Akuma people sweep this thread and vote “yes” then Akuma isn’t gonna be banned. I would say that fifteen votes is an insurmountable lead at this point.

id say he could use a bit more tweaking, but thats about it…and alreadt the match is an uphill battle really no matter what, so i couldnt be throwing my opinion out there and not be accused of being blatantly biased…i also have only played less than stellar GOO-KEEZ

This thread is about wether or not we should ban Akuma in future Seattle HDR tournaments…

Yet with that, there are a HELL of a lot of people who are voting in which I’ve never even seen before. Interestingly enough, I don’t feel as if this poll has been treated very fairly…how you gonna vote in a Seattle setting when you don’t even live here…I see people from way different areas voting…shit gets confusing, posting yes, but voting in this poll?

Agreed. There should be a mechanism that prevents out of region players from voting in these polls. There’s nothing wrong with voicing an opinion on the subject through posting, but voting for a local decision seems inappropriate.

I only see a few people who are completely out of region (Shadow Ace, GA ?). I think its important that we do more than lead by example if we choose to ban him at our tournaments, and make an effort to have that become the community standard. Its fine to be community leaders and make the choice to ban him, but we need to encourage others to do the same, otherwise we are just playing our own game in our own region.

Let’s not fool anybody, no one’s gonna follow us. It would be more like,

“Hahah! Those idiots over there banned Akuma! WTF are they doing?”

We don’t have the clout to gain that kinda influence.

I lived in the Bellevue/ Kirkland/Redmond area for two years so of course I am going to vote. If I come and visit anytime there is a tourney then I certainly want a say. When I was trying to get people to play ST no one came out. The best tourney was when Chris Li visited Seattle before Evo. If everyone votes then you will get a consensus on how the community feels about it as a whole.

As for the tourneys you should just stick with Akuma being playable until the entire community decides on something one way or the other. As it is now Akuma is allowed so that’s how the tourneys should be. You don’t want to ban him in your tournaments just to find out that he is going to be allowed.

The only way that I see him being banned is if there is a big tourney and 3/4 of the final 8 use Akuma. I still think he should be banned but its up to the SF community as a whole to decide that.

Fuck are you talking about, last time I was at Zach’s you eliminated me in HDR.

A fluke, I assure you.

I don’t think anybody but EVO and SBO have that kind of clout, but if banning him at our tournaments isn’t going to change anything then there is no point in doing it. It would just be handicapping ourselves. If the ban is going to happen its got to start somewhere with the community excluding him, otherwise its a soft-ban and I think America is a little to hardcore to respect something like that when money is on the line. If we banned him, we would have to encourage others to do the same.

I say we keep using him until we start seeing Akuma rape videos and he is smashing the brackets at every tournament, or until we start seeing the ST equivalent of Yun, Chun, Ken matches because he unbalances the game. Sirlin wrote a post talking about how Akuma is a lot stronger then he intended with the unblockable Demon, and weird hit boxes, and invincible shoryus.

Isn’t there a way to patch downloaded games? They should do that.

Or perhaps they’re doing what a lot of us are doing - waiting to see how he holds up for a little while before messing with stuff. But even then, it would be nice to have official word that that’s their plan.

Or, then again, maybe now that Sirlin left there’s nobody there who cares enough to ever update the game again. :frowning:

You’d think they would, though, seeing all those sales records it broke.
